Hey y'all,
I am being switched over from hydrocodone to morphine SR for my chronic pain. I've been on 50-60mg hydrocodone a day for a little while now. My doctor is giving me 30 mg morphine SR after I requested something that I didn't have to take so much of. He thinks that this will help. I was hoping for oxycontin, but I guess he wasn't down for that.
I was wondering how this MS-Contin will compare to hydrocodone. I've got a script for 30 mg pills and they are slow release. I've heard that morphine is weaker than hydrocodone when taken orally, so it seems like a step back ward.
Does anyone have any experience with these two medications? Would 60 mg MS-Contin compare to 50-60mg hydrocodone?
Please let me know, you can PM me if you want. Thanks,
Terrence

This just happened to me yesterday! So far I have taken 2 of the morphine SR. I am getting amazing pain relief. I don't get the "warm fuzzy" feeling I sometimes get from hydro but for the first time in about a year I woke up able to move around without having to take pills first. Like I said I have only taken 2 but I am happy with the results so far. Please PM me and let me know how you are doing with it!! It would be nice to have someone to share this experience with who is going through it at the same time!

Are you kidding I would take 60 MG's of morphine over hydrocodone anytime. The Buzzz isnt as noticeable but it is way more powerful. You dont even know how lucky you are.
I've tried both and didn't really notice much of a difference between the two pills. But I have my PM doctor switch back and forth every couple of months to try and not build up a tolerance to either medication. Good luck with pain relief.
