Oxycontin---DEA---Lawsuits
      #196422 - 10/26/04 10:17 PM

The vast majority of people use these drugs correctly and it allows them to lead productive lives. The people who don't, either by abuse, increasing does, what have you, have no right just because they can not handle the medication demand it be taken off the market so the people who can handle it and whom it allows to have productive lives will have to live without it.The benifits outway the risk. Just look at alcohol and tobacco no benifits and all the risk.Does our Govenment really care about your well being???????
Thank God Prudue the makers of oxycontin never lost a law suit to date.
Maybe we should sue the makers of Alcohol and cigarretes.
Not a chance the goverment will never loose.

I haven't read any stats, but I'll bet that for every 1000 people on this amazing drug, 10 probably abuse it. That's only one percent. I may be naieve on this, but it can't be too much higher than that in the midwest where I live. The benefits defineatly outweigh the risks. It is just way too hyped up by the DEA. It's too bad because it is a miracle for many people.

I see so many people on a daily basis who are totally messed up on meth who have never heard of oxycontin. They are actually dieing right before our very eyes for people who know meth users, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for the DEA. Heroin users get AIDS, crack users rob and kill people for drug money, and drunk drivers kill people everyday. But why worry about that when a couple people crush up or sell some stupid pills. I wonder how many people that are denied cronic pain medication turn to illegal and dangerous drugs to relieve their pain? I think the DEA needs to DIVERT some of their spending on other things that are much more important. IMO. pete.

i hear you, floridagator, and i'm with you. i completely understand your point but please don't take away my smokes! it's one of the only vices i have. and, strangely, along with my dexedrine, having a cigarette helps me to calm down. as for alcohol, i don't drink very often but sometimes i have to because i hurt so bad at night. come to think of it, if it weren't for the stigma attached to effective painkillers like oxy, i wouldn't have to resort to drinking to ease the physical pain i am afflicted with. very good point.... and it's a [censored] [censored] outrage, if you ask me!!!!

but, please let me have my cigarettes. they are already too expensive as it is!

there has got to be a solution......

edit~~~~~~~~~~~> looks like "Best kept off the boards" is now [censored].
