Weight loss help...
      #193070 - 10/12/04 08:18 AM

Does anyone know much about these weight loss meds???:
*Xenical
*Tenuate
*Meridia
*Ionamin
*Diethylpropion

If you have any feedback on these- please let me know. I'm fat and need to drop about 30 pounds. And I cannot exercise due to my serious back problems- people around me think I should just get out and do something but when you live in pain- it's a little more difficult than that. If anyone has any feedabck for me- it will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

I know someone who had good results with Meridia ... with not too many side effects. Best of Luck to you. I understand the catch 22 situation of needing to lose and needing to exercise, but the very condition you're hoping to help, your back, is the very condition that can limit being able to exercise and lose. This may be a ridiculous suggestion, but if you have access to a pool .. through a local health club ... excersising in the water is one of the ways I've found that can be very beneficial without causing a week's worth of agony afterwards... just a thought. I'm sure there are people here who have experienced taking those meds first hand, and will be able to give you a more detailed account of their effectiveness and side effects.

hrt,

Living with back pain myself, I can honestly tell you I've done about everything there is to be done for my back short of surgery, which I'm not about to do. I've gone to see the physiatrist, who is a shmuck and most recently to PT. The one honest thing I can tell you is that working out is what makes my back feel better- even if for only a small amount of time. I use the EFX machine which really gets my hips moving (low back pain involving my hips)- but for somebody who doesn't normally work out, my best piece of advice to you is to just start walking and start slow. Walk one block or 2 to start and do that for 2 weeks- then add a block or 2- you'll notice a difference, I promise you.

I'm also a perpetual dieter and have done everything there is do to by means of dieting- all the way to fasting for weeks at a time, which I don't recommend, lol. The only thing those pills will do for you is curb your appetite a little. I'm currently (I'm so addicted to dieting it's not funny) on my own new diet- it consists of eggs, cheese and apples. The best form of eggs are going to be hard boiled or scrambled and I get string cheese and you can eat as much of any of it as you want because it's high protein, low carb and natural (save for the cheese)- plus, it tastes good and you won't feel like you're starving yourself.

Honest to God, the only real secret to losing weight is by decreasing the amount of calories you consume and increase the amount of calories you're burning in a day. That's it.

I hope this helps and good luck to you.

I have used phentermine (I think the same as Ionamin) It suppresses your appetite & makes you feel energetic. It is not safe for people with high blood pressure or heart conditions amongst other problems. (I am not an MD!)
I also do weight watchers & exercise I have lost 50 lbs & have kept it off for nearly 2 years. I'm sorry that you can't exercise, can you afford massage or accupuncture? these help with pain & weight loss too. Weight Watchers is good if you enjoy the support group thing, I love it & it really helped me to make the pernament "lifestyle change" that can lead to weight loss.
I like the OP dietprescriptions.com.
meridia is an antidepressant med, xenical doesn't let your body digest fat, the rest I don't know.
Good luck!

Hi!

I just lost 25 lbs. over the summer and am so happy about it! I took Phentermine and when I ran out of that I tried Tenuate. I preferred Tenuate because it seemed to work better for me. I really had to force myself to eat while taking it. Rather than risk a poor diet I ended up taking it for three days in a row and only drinking vegetable juice or fruit juice on those days because I just could not eat. The other four days of the week I would eat whatever I wanted trying to eat healthy and well balanced meals. I didn't exercise at all. I did this for 12 weeks and lost 25 lbs. easy!

I'm getting ready to start the regimen again and thought I would try Didrex this time. But I can highly recommend Tenuate. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Merry

Does the Tenuate work better in 25 mg or 75 mg? (short or long-acting).

Has anyone had a "jittery" feeling with the Tenuate?

Is there a reliable OP for Tenuate? Thanks for any info.

Have a good day,

mparex

Something that will work better and cheaper than the pharmaceuticals is a combination called ECY. It consists of 25mg of Ephedrine HCL, 200 mg of caffeine and 2.5-5mg of Yohimbine HCL. If you have severe blood pressure problems or heart ailments this isn't recommended, but EC alone has been shown to be more beneficial in weight loss than phentermine. Doses should be started out once a day and then increased gradually to three doses a day, with the last no later than 4 or 5PM. This is similar to the herbal products which are now illegal, which were dangerous because of the ephedra extract. The dangerous thing about ephedra was that it contained other things in it besides the ephedrine alkaloid that caused the heart problems, but the pure pharmaceutical ephedrine HCL is much more safe and has fewer side effects and is in fact used medicinally in some countries for weight loss. The ephedrine in the stack helps reduce appetite greatly, increase energy and cause an increase in thermogenesis. The caffeine produces a synergistic effect with the ephedrine, causing greater thermogenesis and fat burning as well as energy. And finally the yohimbine is important because it first prolongs the effects of ephedrine, secondly, it activates a seperate beta receptor in sex specific fat cells (targetting the beer belly in men and the hips and thighs of women) as well as increasing mood and sexual response through direct stimulation of dopamine in the brain.
Ok this probably sounds a lot like an ad, but its what I've reall used to lose 60 pounds from january of '04 to june of '04....granted I'm only 21 years old, but those are still great results. And I did exercise and eat a fairly low carb diet, but using this combo really helped me a lot as far as gettting the motivation to work out and curbing my appetite.
I'd recommend alternating it on one or two week on cycle and then one week off to avoid getting too much tolerance.
And for men the Yohimbine definitely increases sex drive and sexual response, meaning a higher degree of sensation...this can be good or bad depending on your current level of sexual stamina
The yohimbine capsules are available at the online supplement store 1fast400.com they come as 2.5mg caps I believe, which is a good starting dose...eventually work up to 5mg per dose if you can tolerate it. Make sure you are getting Yohimbine HCL and not just yohimbe bark or some Best if kept off the board like that...its not the same!
The ephedrine tabs can also be found at 1fast400.com or at dnepharm.com, sometimes on ebay (look for vasopro ephedrine)...but I get mine from behind the counter at the local gas station. One dose for this stack is 25mg so keep that in mind when ordering, some tablets come as 8mg...which fine, just keep it in mind. Also, many come with guiffanessen (spelling?) which is ok, its just a minor medication intended to help with congestion/coughing, it has no noticeable or negative effect on healthy individuals.
Finally, using the ECY stack is legal! It was the herbal ephedra extract that was made illegal, not the pharmaceutical grade ephedrine HCL. Ephedrine HCL is really more effective and has the added benefit of being safer than the herbal ephedra extract.
I post all this because I've had such a good experience with it and feel like its not worth it shell out all that money for pharmaceuticals which aren't even as effective. I think 90 yohimbine tabs are about $9, 60 25mg ephedrine tabs is usually around $8 for me....and caffeine tablets can be bought at walgreeens for like $10 for 120 tabs I think, they're sold as Stay Alert! walgreens brand alertness aid....or you can get Caffeine tabs from 1fast400.com for a little bit cheaper I think, so you can order both the yohimbine HCL capsules and the caffeine from them to save on the shipping.
Again these products form together a pretty strong stimulant stack, so if you do have cardiovascular problems it is definitely not recommended that you use this stack......but probably the greatest benefit of this stack is the sense of wellbeing and motivation from the yohimbine and the energy and appetite suppression from the ephedrine. Thats all!!!! good luck!!!!

I've used tenuate (both short acting and long), phentermine, and xenical. I prefer both the tenuate and the phentermine, and alternate between the two every couple of days to avoid tolerance. I also like the short acting tenuate because you can add it to another med if you find your long acting starting to wear off too soon, or if you just need an am "pick me up".

Xenical cuts your fat digestion, but beware if you eat something too fatty - you'll start "leaking" a day later. It works, but the leaking is a pretty unpleasant side effect. It can be taken with other diet meds.

IntegraRx and DietPrescriptions are both good sources/prices. Only Dietprescripts has the short acting tenuate though (25mg).
