Codeine? Darvon?

Is codeine good for pain? Or I should ask is it better
than a darvon, which I know is pretty weak?

For some people, Darvon/Darvocet is more effective. It does absolutely zero for me, but my wife finds it more effective for her back pain than either hydrocodone or codeine. For me, codeine and hydrocodone in equianalgesic doses (e.g., 60 mg. codeine or 10 mg. hydrocodone) work about the same. Other people say hydrocodone is stronger. Different folks respond differently.

To be more specific I'm talking about Codeine 30mg and Darvocet 65mg w/400mg acetaminophen.

I have found that, for back pain, codeine is good, hydrocodone or oxycodone are better and darvon isn't even close. Your results may vary.

I had horrible reaction top darvon. Made me feel aweful. I will never take it again. Not to mention I went to read up on the drug and read about all the 1,000's of accidental deaths on it. So part of the reason they stpped prescribing it as much way back in the 70's already. I would stay away from that stuff. You couldn't get me to take that Best if kept off the board if it was handed out free...
