FDA Warning...

Hello all.For what it's worth below is a copy taken out of a news group article today. As I stated before I am still a little leary about a lot of the new drugs out on the market. The mind alternating ones are the ones I worry about the most. Not enough time and study goes into them any more. Between the drug companies lying to the FDA and the public about possible side effects just to get a new drug on the market, and the fact that they are not time proven makes me think twice before using my brain as a testing grounds. Think about it friends.Later,Sammyboy--------------------------------------------------Search MSNBC:Advanced SearchNew warning label ordered for antidepressantsChildren, teens at risk for suicide, FDA saysThe Associated PressWASHINGTON - All antidepressants must carry a black box warning, the government’s strongest safety alert, linking the drugs to increased suicidal thoughts and behavior among children and teens taking them, the Food and Drug Administration said Friday.Because the warnings are primarily seen by doctors, the agency also is creating an information guide for patients to advise them of the risk.Dr. Lester Crawford, acting FDA commissioner, said the agency sought to balance the increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior against the known benefit of treating depression in children. We continue to believe, however, that these drugs provide significant benefits for pediatric patients when used appropriately. After searing and emotional public hearings one month ago, the advisers urged the agency to add its most strident warnings to the drugs. The FDA said in a statement that it recognizes that depression in pediatric patients “can have significant consequences in pediatric patients if not appropriately treated. The new warning language recognizes this need but advises close monitoring of patients as a way of managing the risk of suicidality.” Related storyDrugs linked to increased suicide risk in childrenAn information guide will be distributed with each antidepressant prescription. Welcome to the wonderful world of the giant revolving door between FDA and big Pharm. As many of you know by now I used to work for a large pharm house - and quit! Am now in education.

Love that last bit about trying to silence employees who "knew" - come into a large pharm house and see clinical studies done backwords - data made to fit patients not the way it should be for sure - MD's on payroll to falsify findings - FDA in bed with Pharm firm - paid off - FDA head honcho coming to sit on Board of big pharm company - and then big honcho of large pharm company goes and gets big gun job with FDA.

This is a really sick joke - and no one is making any attempt to clean the houses of the pharm companies AND the FDA. Politics abound - and the joke is on us - and our health!
