How long to wait before drinking?
      #192844 - 10/11/04 11:09 AM

I was curious how long I should wait before drinking alcohol? For instance if I were to take 2 10/325 hydrocodone at about 10:30 am, when would it be safe to drink?

The next evening? The next day?

Also does it matter if you regularly take Hydro and then drink on a day when you dont take any hydro?

Any comments would be apperciated!

I have had alcahol while on OC. But I had a tolerance at that time and it just made me sleepy. the one thing I would strongly advise is DO NOT DRIVE when mixing pain meds and alcahol. the alcahol multiplys the negitive effects of pain meds. and strt small to see what effects it has on you.

People have died just from mixing alcohol with plain Tylenol. It has nothing to do with Tollerance or "knowing your limit". You really never know if that drink will be the one.

It is just not worth it.

my question is basicly how long should i wait to drink if i have been taking apap?

You should ask a pharmacist or a doctor. You would probably get a more truthful answer from a pharmacist. You can call them on the phone and ask.

I totally agree with you. It is not worth the risk at all. I do not drink any alcoholic beverages at all anymore because I am on so many meds for many different things. In my opinion mixing pain meds and alcohol is a very dangerous action to take.

I have posted on this before, but I would never give specific advice. All I can say is APAP and alcohol are a deadly combination . Be extremely conservative. One poster basically said that he/she doesn't worry about it, but "that's just me". Well, he/she will start worrying about it when they notice that the white of their eyes are yellow. That's jaundice. And that will just be the start of their problems. Liver disease is nothing to fool with. I do not take hydro on a daily basis, but when I need it, I always ask my doc for vicoprofen. No APAP in that, although the ibuprofen can be hard on the stomach.
