If you have some T-4s you're OK with codeine; otherwise, hydro is your best bet.

T3's always back me up and I tend to feel more nauseous with codeine than hydro.
Hydro hands down!

My neighbor had surgery on an ingrown toenail and the doctor prescribed Vicodin 5/500 for the pain. He never needed it, so he saved them (16 of them) for later on. A few weeks ago, he experienced opioids for the first time. He wanted to try it the night before he ended up using it, but didn't because he was very stressed out at the time, and realized a responsible drug user does not use drugs to escape stress. Luckily, the next day, all of his problems were resolved and the stress was gone. He had not been taking any OTC drugs or herbal supplements, he was clean. He decided this night would be quite an ideal night to use it, as it would only add to his already positive state of mind.
He prepared for the experience by not eating for 6 hours before, so the effects would be more intense. He sat down on his sofa and turned on the TV. He took 3 pills out of his bottle and broke each pill in half. At 10:15 he swallowed all the halves. He laid down and waited for the effects to come on. By 10:40 he was feeling euphoric, a little numb, and a bit uncoordinated. His pupils were very constricted and his thinking was very clear. Later that night, his friend called him on the phone. He stumbled over to phone and answered it, laid back on his sofa and they talked on the phone for hours. His speech wasn't slurred or anything, so she never knew he was on hydrocodone, but he could tell it made a real difference. He felt more friendly and sociable, they also had some very meaningful chat about the future of their lives, and too many other things to remember. There wasn't a quiet moment. He talked openly with her about their friendship and they talked about what they liked about each other and what bothered them. He apologized to her for every mean thing he'd ever done, he felt very peaceful, loving, and happy. He didn't get offended at anything. He learned what a great, deep, kind, socially outgoing person he had the potential to be.

For whatever reason t4's tend to upset my stomach. Even taken with food. Hydro takes care of the pain without any negative side effects.

Viki,
As a CP patient I will give you this advice to give to your friend, Hydro is nothing to play with, it seems harmless becasue it is a prescription medication but he/she will build a tolerance very quickly and all eurphoric effects will go away, then the only reason to keep takin it will to be to escape withdrawal. If you have chronic pain it is a different ball game, you dont have a choice, you can not function without pain control. I have never preached to anyone on this board and I dont feel good about doing it now but your friend sounds young to me and I hope this was a one time deal, without a valid reason for taking this medication the concequences will be bad, not just health wise (the tylenol content can do a number on your liver for one) also the price is outrageous if you dont have medical records, some of these no-records sites are charging 300 plus for 60 pills! Do your friend a big favor and steer them away from this, let them know that those euphoric effects will go away very soon and it will no longer be fun.
Im not trying to preach a you here so please dont take it that way, just offering my advice and concern.
Stay Safe

On pure Hydro I feel at peace with myself and the world. There's an enhanced sense of self-worth, self-forgiveness and complete self-acceptance. Cynical thoughts and negative feelings disappear. Aspects of life normally too sensitive to talk about can be explored freely. Heightened feeling allows long-forgotten and repressed emotional memories from childhood to be retrieved with unusual ease. In some settings, painful, highly-charged and even hitherto unmentionable problems may be discussed with (rose-tinted) candor. On Hydro a lifetime of accumulated psychological barriers and defence-mechanisms go down, somehow magicked out of existence with a pill. Anger, irritability and ingrained fear dissolve; the hostile amygdala is subdued, if only for a few hours. I keep telling affectionately to the people around me what beautiful people they are; and I do so from the depth of my heart.

I build up a tolerance to hydro's but they are much more powerfull than codeing. Tylenol 's still work and I never had a Wd issue with them, not as effective and addictive but still do a bit of the job IMHO.
