why did you quit xanax? if it is for addiction/withdrawls problems PAXIL IS HORRIBLY habit forming and HORRIBLE withdrawl symptoms. I was on paxil for awhiel and ti is bad stuff. but this is just how it affected me. maybe it be different for you hopefully. I can tell you i have been in bed for 3 weeks b4 though with paxil withdrawls and had paxil withdrawl symptoms from missing 1 dose!!!!!!!

i am sorry I didnt address the lexapro thing which was yer initial Q lol sorry i dont know anything bout lexapro just know too many bad things about paxil

the xanax was given to me to help me sleep because when i go to bed i start thinking of crazy things that would become a full blown panic attack like i would start thinking about what if something happened to one of my children, or what would i do if someone in my family passed away just crazy thoughts...so i was placed on xanax...well one night i forgot to take it (only been on it 2 weeks) and the next day i was feeling really bad, it felt like my insides was just gonna shake right out of me and also had spasams all over my body and come to find out from what i was told on this board it sounded like w/d from the xanax so that told me right there i did not need that med so i have slowly taken myself off from it and been off from it for over 2 weeks (maybe less, not sure) so i let my body get rid off all that med and then my doc rx'd me this paxil...but if it has anything like the xanax w/d symptoms i will not take it at all...i will just stick to the lexapro and be done with it

in my experience the paxil is gonan be just as bad. but i dont wanan be a definitive source you know. there were days when if i was an hour later in taking my paxil then the day b4 my head woudl get real trashed and I'd have to sleep it off for a day. even after the initial 3 weeks in bed withdrawls afetr quitting it it then took at least a month or more after that for me to feel liek it was gone. Paxil is just like Valium or Xanax in withdrawl symptoms etc. there are websites dedictaed to helping ppl kick paxil as most ppl cant stop it b/c they cant handle the withdrawls etc. I have 120 paxil cr's right here unopened selaed that i'll enver touch that I had left over i will never ever ever take paxil again no matter what. But liek i said this all could just be me. either way i hope you find what works for you. even when the paxil was working which after ahwil u will have tolerance if i bent over too qucikly or anythign my head woudl instantly be "swimmiing" feelign and i be in bed rest of day.

I have been on Paxil for about 4 years now. It works great for my panic attacks, the only bad side effect that I have had is that it bloats my face and weight gain. I recently just started taking the CRs and they seem to be doing great for me. IM not sure about the lexapro, but the paxil works for me

Oh! I just HAD to respond to this one.

I know your original question was whether Paxil and Lepraxo are safe to take together but like 'stevesmith' I have some very bad news for you about Paxil and the terrible withdrawals I had from it. It's important to let you know first that I have also stopped taking Xanax, I've also been on many other SSRI's and other drugs and have stopped taking them all with little or no side effects. But I have never experienced anything as bad as coming off Paxil.

At first I thought I had a freakish kind of Flu. I'd run out of my prescription and all of a sudden I was struck down by what I thought was a crazy virus. I stayed in bed for two weeks convulsing, sweating and having auditory hallucinations, unbelievably vivid dreams and a very dark and frightening depression. The funny thing is I never once thought it was because I'd stopped taking my pills, I just assumed that the reason I couldn't get to the doctor to collect my next prescription was because I had 'caught' this unusual bug.

Anyway, 6 months later I decided to stop taking Paxil for other reasons, and tapered off slowly and guess what? The exact same symptoms of the mysterious virus that I thought I'd contracted several months earlier returned. It was then that I realised I was going through major withdrawals. Nothing could stop them so I just rode it out... one night I remember having the heating cranked up full blast and although I was wrapped up in a fleece blanket and was practically stuck to the radiator, I was shivering and aching all over. I felt like a proper junkie and I thought that the nightmare was never going to end! Thankfully it did, and needless to say, I never went back to the doctor who prescribed Paxil to me with the assurance that 'they are in no way addictive'.

I had to share this experience because to this day I am amazed that this seemingly 'harmless' drug could do this to me, whilst other drugs that are considered highly addictive had little or no effect when I stopped taking them. I suppose once again it is down to the individual, everybody reacts differently to drugs. It pains me to say this, but I'm sure there are lots of people out there who have taken Paxil and have given up with minimal side effects. What you have to ask yourself is this: Is Paxil the only drug that can help me with panic attacks, or are there others that I can try? I think you'll find that there are less controversial drugs out there that can help you.

The PAXIl changed me too. not for good. I was unmotivated, lazy, couldnt get organized procrastinated, and my relationships with famiyl and friends suffered. I was a TOTAL different person and not for the better. that's just my personal experience with it. I am sure there are lotsa ppl it works great for.

I am glad you posted that. it's good to know others have ahd this same bad experience as alot of ppl will try to tell you that these kinda meds are not liek that but at least me and you know they are! good luck!
