Has anyone heard of any anti-depression meds interfering w/ pain meds? A friend of mine swears that it does, and tells me that I should take the Zoloft way after I take any of my pain meds. Which I really don't want to do, b/c if I take Zoloft before I go to bed, I can't sleep. Usually I take both first thing in the morning. But I have noticed that my new rx for Vicodin ES, doesn't seem to give me as much pain relief as other pain meds I've been on; plus I started the Zoloft at the same time.
If anyone has heard anything about this, please let me know.
Thanks! I've really learned a-lot in here so far; this is a great board
As far a Zoloft goes it depends on the person, some people it makes tired, some it keeps them from asleep, you will just have to see how it works for you. When I was on it I took it in the morning, however my husband had to take it at night. And is this the first time you have been on Vicodin ES? Maybe it just is not working for you. You discuss that with your doctor. I would get others veiws but IME taking these two drugs should not effect their effectiveness.
One could only speculate. They say Serotonin enhancement has the opisite effect on Dopamine activity and vice versa. Dopamine at the least plays an important role in the action of opioids if not the most important.
