Anyone else get this spam source??
      #189988 - 09/30/04 11:20 PM

Hey all,

Got this in the spam box. The prices are ridiculous, IMO, but it mimics some tactics that most of us have seen before when a domestic OP & its sistersites go down:
http://www.buy-rx-drugs.com.

Supposedly no records or consult fees, overnight FedEx delivery, outrageous prices, but carry anxiety & watered down pain meds like Ultram & Fiorcet. I have at least 3 or 4 who are offering hydro for your second born child, and I have no way of telling if these places are legit or not.

My spam box was full of this junk all day long, and for all I know, I'm not the only one. Has anyone else gotten spammed all day today? Well, if anyone's interested, I'll be glad to send the links onto you, even the mods if you want to check them out. But I have this sinking feeling that we've all pretty much been swamped today by these, so it's probably not necessary. If not, feel free to PM me, I saved the URL's.

Take it easy everyone,

Eeyore

Everyday I get multiple offers for hydro, viagra, diet meds. in my spam box. Once in a while I will open one up and go to the link just to see how outrageous the prices are. The last one I checked yesterday had hydro #60 for something like 295.00 plus 24.00 for shipping. It's sad but I am sure there are thousands of people who fall for these places. I use yahoo and I wish there was a way to block the senders in the bulk folder!

WoW!! I just checked your link, 27 imitrex for $986.00. #200 Vioxx for $900.00, #30 Valium for $200.00, #30 Ativan for $200.00, I can't believe it. No, I guess I can.

Spam Sources & Suspicious Phone Calls [Re: peteg72]
      #190249 - 10/01/04 09:32 PM

pegteg,

I hear you there, I use an ISP, but also have a yahoo account, and the bulk folder always seems full of sources for online meds, loan offers, credit card applications and even the occasional porn sites. I've tried "flagging" them, but it doesn't seem to matter too much, because every time I check my bulk folder, there's at least 50 pieces of junk mail in there, mostly from the same addresses or their affiliates. There should be a way to block certain domains from sending you mail on there, but considering the fact that it's a free account, I guess they're not all that eager to make that feature available unless you're a paid member who had a reason to complain to them about it.

As for the prices of these meds, it's highway robbery, if you ask me. Anyone who would spend that much money for their medications are either unaware of the fact that there are cheaper sites out there, or they're just so desperate that they'll pay anything to get the relief they need. I think it's a shame that anyone would fall for that kind of a "deal."

Incidentally, I got a strange phone call today from a man identifying himself as Ed from "Online Pharmacy," this also happened to me a few months ago when some of the other domestic sites went down. I asked him specifically which site he was affiliated with, and while he wouldn't give me a straight answer, he said that he worked for "Medical Services" and that they operated out of New York.

He kept trying to get me to give him my credit card information, but I just told him that my card was maxed out right now. After I told him that, all of a sudden, he started offering the medication (Alprazolam 2 mg) at not only a lower price, but also with free shipping. Again, I told him that my card was maxed out, and he insisted that I give him the numbers anyway so that he could see if he could run them through successfully.

I told him again that the card was maxed out, and that I wasn't giving him the numbers, no matter how low of a price he was offering the meds. He said something about giving me the weekend to "think it over" and that he would call again on Monday in case I changed my mind. I just said "OK" at that point, just to get this guy off the phone!

I really don't know if this guy was for real or not, but there has got to be some kind of law against this sort of solicitation. I think I remember reading about this in other posts around the same time I got this sort of phone call before, so I was wondering if anyone else has heard from this guy or someone else recently. I just got the feeling that it reeked of a scam artist, so I wasn't about to bite.

Anyone else out there have any similar experiences? If so, has anyone taken these people up on their offers? I'm curious to find out if they're legit or not, but I'm leaning towards the latter.

Call me paranoid, but I wasn't about to just give some stranger claiming to be from an OP my CC numbers just to be set up for a possible scam. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Eeyore

Don't feel bad I have been receiving 3 to 4 phone calls a day from them. I keep telling them to take my # off their list and they promise to. But the Best if kept off the board calls still keep coming. Most of the time I just don't answer as I see the # and practically have it memorized. But they are really irritating me.

Jewlels,

OMG, do you believe that somebody else from the same number tried hitting me again this morning?? WTF?? I just told this guy the same thing I told the guy I talked to yesterday, and he said, "Well, how about I call you towards the middle of the week?" I mean, the guy's offering me Alprazolam 2mg X 60 for $139.00 including shipping, but it just can't be legit! Man, these people go right for the jugular, don't they??

Sorry to hear that you've gotten several calls now, at least I only have this one place pestering me for the time being. I even told the guy that he was calling me my cell phone number (since it's illegal to solicit business over a cell phone), but they just aren't getting the picture.

This second guy says that it's a "refill", so they must have gotten my # from BetterDeals, because that's the last OP I ordered with. I saved the flippin number in my cell phone this time so that next time I know not to answer the phone when they call, but I just can't get over the nerve of these vultures!!

DO NOT give them anything or even tell them to call you later, etc. Have had the same thing happen. First time, I got suckered in & it was not for that much $ but I never received anything. Tried to do a chargeback after not getting anything for 2 months and that was not successful. The bank stated it was "an online transaction," blah, blah, blah (it was NOT an online transaction--it was over the phone)...I did NOT want to go into it with them so I just ate that. However, the second time the guy calls from "Online Pharmacy", a few months later, I was smarter & just said, "NO thanks" and hung up the phone. Looked at my statement on-line the next day & low & behold, they had charged me anyway. This time I was lucky enough to quickly get the charges taken off my cc. I couldn't believe that they would go ahead & charge me when I had said NO WAY. The weirdest thing is that the first one showed up on my statement as Hummusinternational or some such odd name. The second time it showed up as whiteline pharmacy. The man that called both times said he was from "Online Pharmcy." I thought I was safe by just telling them NO and yet they charged me anyway. I guess because I had OK'd an order before. Dumb me.

"Online Pharmacy" has contacted me several times before as well. I finally told him I didn't live there anymore.

I won't talk to these scam artist faux drug dealers calling up as telemarkers. I hope they stop bothering folks. Perhaps they'll call someone up from the DEA eventually. Lol.

I also believe that if you tell them you are on the National DO NOT CALL list, that they, by law, need to quit calling you or you can report them.

I think more people need to report them to the Do Not Call Registry. The only people exempt from the Do Not Call list (if your number is on it), are charitable organizations. There may be another exception or two, but certainly NOT this scam outfit.

Hey all,

Thanks for all of the suggestions, especially the DO NOT CALL list one, I'm surprised I never thought of that myself!! I thought that by telling him that he was soliciting me over a cell phone that would have been enough, but obviously, these people are persistent and just don't care.

Thank God, looking back on it now, that BetterDeals only dealt with COD. Although it was an inconvinience at the time, at least these SOB's don't have my CC number on file...whew!! But the next time they call, I'll definitely try the "Do Not Call" list trick and threaten to report them if it means that it will get them off of my back.

Thanks!!

Just tell them you work for the DEA/IRS/FBI or pick whatever job you want, and then start asking them pointed questions. I'll bet they stop bothering you....

I'd just say "She's dead." They were bugging me for a while. If they call back, that's what I plan to do.

Hi all,

Here's the phone # of Dr. Ed, Dr. Robert or whoever else keeps trying to call me, they called 2 more times today, and I just didn't answer the phone.

1-800-487-6217. Since it's toll free, I was actually thinking about going to a pay phone and calling them saying that I'm a DEA agent and received a bunch of phone calls from people who "reported" them for soliciting prescription medications over the phone. I swear, if I get one more call from these idiots, I might just do it...

I got a call just a few moments ago from 910-202-0643 and he told me its for a refill on watson 10/325.50 for $299 and even offered 500 for $899.These people are bigtime cons.Heres what a reverse lookup gave me:The phone number "(910) 202-0643" is a Wilmington, NC based phone number and the registered carrier is Nuvox Communications, Inc. - Nc.
That 800 number you listed isnt registered either. What do you guys think of me calling my local police and giving them these numbers and telling them what they were offering?Would that be a wise move?Im very concerned about them ripping so many off.I have never ordered 10/325 from online and he told me im ready to have the 10/325 refilled. No cod either. They are trash people.Lets takem all down.Any input from you guys would be helpful...
