WOW - everyone should read this artical - I had no idea that they were thinking of making vicodin schII.
I take sch II meds for other disorders so it is no big deal.
Another interesting fact is that calif has a pain sufferers act; I did't know that. You could not tell by the way CALI dr's fear the DEA/AMA and FAIL to fufill their oath to 'relieve suffering'.
Fortunately my neurologist perscribes me SCH II and doesn't worry about it.
See we in cali also have the medical marijuanna act, which allows patients to smoke pot to relieve suffering/ nausea etc (I don't). It also allow you to grow it
I wonder how far off a pain suffers- opiate voter driven proposal is to allow pain suffers to grow/refine poppies.
I will bet that the pharmacutical manufactires fear this; Painkillers are cheap to make but highly profitable

And on the graphs at the top; it is interesting that two of the most popular legal drugs are not included in teh statistics; Tobacco(nicotine) and Alcohol cause FAR more deaths than legal medically required medication.
But it's much easier to focus on the 'war on drugs' and let the cigatette and whiskey manufactures continue funding political campagins than to show the REAL sources of major death involving drugs - AND ALCOHOL IS A DRUG PERIOD. Nicotine is active in 1 mg doses; FAR MORE ADDICITIVE THAN HERION
I donno about calling nicotine more addictive than heroin. when you go off nicotine the biggest withdrawal symptom is extreme hardcore craving along with a hand full of others like restlessness, maybe a little sweating etc. with heroin the withdrawal syndrome is infinately worse than with nicotine
