Hi! I'm new to this board and am having a little trouble finding what I'm looking for. I'm needing information on what is called a 'hydro holiday'? Currently I'm on hydro and vicodin for back pain and migraines, but find myself having to take more and more each day to get the pain to stop. Sooo, I'm considering not taking them for a few days, to lower my tolerence and would love any help you guys can give me. I'm really scared to do it, but there's got to be something I can do!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot.

The best thing would probably be to start a thread named hydro holiday or hydro withdraw or something like that you'll get responses to that exact question. And be as specific as possible in post as to what you want to know so that they can give you the information. This board is really great. The people on here have lots of great adive and information and alot of them also provide you with links to websites with even more stuff for you to read. Hope this helps and good luck. You have come to right place to get info and support!

Thanks for your help. What thread do you think I should post it to get the best responses? I'm still getting used to this board; but from what I have read so far, you're right... the people in here really seem compasionate and knowledgeable.
thanks again

Actually I think you are in the best forum for it, meds, medical coditions and treatment. You just need to start a new thread and label it with your exact problem like "starting hydro holiday" or "hydro withdraw". That should get the ball rolling. I have never gone through a hydro holiday nor have I any w/d from it, but have from other drugs, if you ever have any problem fell free to PM me. I hope you find the answers you are looking for!

You might want to add 800 mg Ibuprophen three times a day, it's an excellent anti-inflammatory and should reduce your back pain in the long term, but with migraines, you may run into a problem with rebound headaches.....also, it might be time to consider a long acting narcotic that does not have apap such as oxycontin or mscontin, this would need to be prescribed by a local physician, you can't get it via OP's, but would help with the back pain & reduce the possibility of rebound headaches, good luck to you
