This is the best summary of Benzodiazepines I've every seen on the Internet:
http://www.rxfiles.ca/acrobat/Cht-Psyc-Benzodiazepines.pdf
Very informative in a compact table format. Judging from all the characteristics, I'd stay away from Xanax (maybe Xanax extended release is okay). Lorezepam (Ativan) has good characteristices except for the fairly short half life. Clonazepam (Klonopin, Rivotril) looks like a another good choice for something that maybe once dose a day may get people by and less potential for addiction/withdrawal. That's just how I read it. Very interesting.

By the way, it lists most of the abbreviations at the bottom except the ones on the dosage columns.
tid - three times daily
sid - two times daily
hs - I think they really meant qhs (right before bed) as hs just means hours before bed but there is no number specified next to hs

Thanks for the link. I just wish it had a more extensive list of benzodiazepines, as there are so many out there on the international market that info is hard to come by on them all....

Yeah dude, it's some bomb-Best if kept off the board chart! There's even a suggested taper schedule:
cut down 25% of your dose per week, and consider replacing your benzo with an equivalent of clonazepam or diazepam; from what I've been hearing about diazepam withdrawal, I'd go for Klonopin. Very helpful!

Man, cutting 25% per week seems awful fast IME. Last time I detoxed off xanax j(taking 4mg per day) I dropped .25 mg every 2 weeks and even that was a baaad time when I stopped that last .25mg ..

Good grief, I don't doubt it for a second. I think the key part is replacing Xanax with Klonopin and tapering on THAT. Still, I'm not going to be waving any flags for tapering too fast. Benzos are serious medicines.

I agree with the tapering from xanax to klonopin, then tapering down on the k. I've found it to be the easiest way for me get off, or at least down a few knotches

Some obvious misses on the table were Eurozepam (medizepam) used in euro - breaks down into vallium , Versad(midezepam) great ammnesia/sleep med and legal in us and roofies(rhoyphenol) illegal in us under any circumstances.
Really Xanax is the only Panic disorder benzo. so it's like what you take for pamic - I wish I coudl stay away from painkillers and CSN accellarants too

I realize this was just a typo, but Versed is midazolam. Its major FDA-approved use is to induce amnesia before surgery.
