I know Methadone comes in 10mg and 40mg.
Are there any other dosages available?

Also comes in 5 mg. Only manufacturer I know of (for pills) is Mallincrodt (sp?). Actually, isn't Dolophine (Dollies) a brand name of meth? Also, I think methadone comes in liquid form. Might want to check the PDR or something.

I was prescribed Methadone a while back but it was generic and where it usually says "generic for.." underneath the generic name on the prescription bottle there was nothing so I am not sure what brand they were.
Thank you for the confirmation of the availability of other doses, specifically the fives.
Also, I think the liquid is only available at Meth clinics. No personal experiences with the clinics, thank god.

when people are on a methadone taper program to get "clean", what is the last step before zero methadone? is it 5mg i assume? wouldnt that be a high last step? i notice that when you go from the last step to zero of any med it always seems really bad unless the last step is rediculusly low, for example an 8th of a pill.

With methadone, to go from 5mg to 0 would be too traumatic.. I would recommend going from 1.25 to zero, after being on 1.25 for at least 3 weeks. btw - 1.25 would be 1/4 of a 5mg tab.

Methadone doses are usually cut from 20mg or 10mg right down to 0mg. The 3-day half-life gives you a natural taper. 2-3 days after the last dose would be the worst you feel, and it's BAD, then the symptoms subside. At least this is from the clinical data. The error bars for these sorts of things are substantial!

i agree, d989, thats why im concerned about those methadone programs. other poster - they get them to zero after 10 mg!? wow. glad ill never have a need to use one of those

I would freak out if i'd been on a long taper (say from 150mg/day to 10mg/day, dropping incrementally every 2 weeks) and had to go from 10mg/day to zero. After many months/years at any "reasonable" dose a drop from 10 to zero would be hellish to say the least, IME. As stated above it seems no matter how low you taper, when you finally go from a teeny-tiny taper dose to taking nothing at all, it still hurts. Habit of taking medicine alone makes it hard to forget.
