My Experience with Dr. Starks [Re: KarmaKelly]
      #185635 - 09/09/04 01:17 AM

I sent you a PM as requested, but I thought it would be a shame not to share it with everyone. thanks! -- FightIgnunce

In my opinion, Dr. Starks is a wonderful doctor who really cares about his patients. He spends a lot of time on the phone with you and he frequently goes out of his way to accomodate people. Whereas some doctors are happy to have patients who are just stable, Dr. Starks is always looking for ways to help you improve your situation or to solve your underlying problems, if possible. When you talk to him, it's always clear that he has thouroughly reviewed your records and progress reports and knows exactly who you are and what your medical issues are. He's the closest I've found to a real, in-person doctor. I think he's an excellent model for what online medicine should be. I'm sure he probably wishes he could do a lot of things differently, but he does the best with what the law allows. He's compassionate and will allow you to talk, which is really important since so many doctors just cut you off and form opinions without gathering adequate information. It's very important that you feel your doctor understands you and your problems, and I think Dr. Starks understands this. I bet you'll find that anyone who's been a patient of Dr. Starks probably has only positive things to say about him.

If there are any "negative" things, I guess some people might seem them as these: Dr. Starks is a REAL doctor who is involved in online medicine to help people and not just to make a quick buck. He is a stickler for having all of your paperwork and records in order and he doesn't just give out rx's without understanding your problem. I think that, in addition to respecting his patients, Dr. Starks also respects the law and is very exacting about honoring all current regulations - which is no easy task in the current climate. It can seem like a burden to track down paperwork when you're in pain and at your wit's end, but ultimately it's for the good of everyone - and it's very important that other op's do this as well, so that the whole industry doesn't get dragged down by the few shady characters out there who create a seemingly endless flow of bad press.

Hopefully none of what I wrote above will intimidate you. These are really the things you should be looking for because doctors who care and follow the rules are the ones who are most likey to stay in business - and I'm sure what you want is to find a good doctor who cares about you and whom you can develop a long-term relationship with, instead of having to switch every month because OP's keep getting shut down.

I have a feeling that Dr. Starks is one of the best, most responsible online doctors out there and I highly reccommend him. If you're worried about your own situation, just give him a try. What have you got to lose? Be honest and give him all the info he asks for and maybe, in addition to helping you cope with pain issues, he might hit on something that will help you to improve the underlying condition as well.

Appointments with Dr. Starks are made through his assistant Traci, who can be reached at Traci is amazing and almost always gets back to people with lightning speed. If you have any questions about Dr. Starks i haven't answered, i'm sure Traci will have whatever info you need.

Thanks and be sure to post your experience, whoever you decide to go with.

Another physician who actually reviews medical records for appropriateness and matches care and therapy accordingly.
How refreshingly different from the "what do you want" and "how many do you need" OP sites.

Hope we have Dr Starks for awhile. He makes up for the numerous
pill pushers at other sites.

Esp NWW and SWMG before they lost their pharmacy.

AGREE. Excellent doc and a nice guy. Can't stand drug dealers like NWW. That will destroy the whole industry.
