I guess is some new drug agency that connects with other agencies.
I suppose that the government will not be happy until they have use all in one super computer and can find out everything about our lives.
BTW IS there some new thing to do just that?

I believe this is just a new name for an old agency.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

After 9/11/01, when Bush decided to bring the federal law enforcement world a little closer together, he formed the Department of Homeland Security(DHS). Border Patrol, Customs, Immigration and VERY small portions of FBI, NSA, and CIA were placed under DHS. This was done because of poor communication, lack of cooperation, and overlapping jurisdictions. There are several branches of DHS and ICE is one of them. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is ICE. All of the Immigration agents and Customs agents were cross trained to do each others' jobs. This way they can work together as teams and get more work done.
There are other branches like border protection which includes border patrol, immigration inspectors, and customs inspectors. The inspectors are the people staffing the checkpoints and border crossings. The agents are the LE officers who actually investigate the criminal violations of the laws.
The branches have changed names like two or three times since DHS took over, but ICE seems to have stuck.

I was hoping you'd put your $2 worth in, as I know you would have a more complete answer.
Thanks

Well to be accurate Congress along with the President and his cabinet created DHS. Your definition of I.C.E. is correct. Take care. Billylll

Billyl- It was just my Bush bias shining through...You are correct though. As I understand it, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, the idea started from Rice's team, was pitched to Bush, who pitched it to congress, who revised it into the system it is today. Either way, it DEFINITELY took an act of congress to spend the kind of money they had to spend. New uniforms, new vehicle emblems, new ID cards, etc.
The funny part is they never created a central database, that I am aware of. Each individual agency kept their old systems, but now every DHS agency has access to every other agency's system. One of my buddies in ICE is complaining because he was Immigration, but had to spend the last month cross training to do Customs and Customs had to cross train to do Immigration. He also said he has three computers: two desktops and a laptop. The laptop connects to Immigration, one desktop to Customs, and the other desktop to standard FLEO (NCIC, CII, etc). What a mess! It works better in many ways than the old system, but there are a few things that were overlooked like computer integration and paperwork unificaiton.

The Current definition of ICE is.....
ORGANIZATION
With the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the functions, expertise, resources and jurisdictions of several once-fragmented border and security agencies were merged and reconstituted into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the DHSs largest investigative bureau. The agencies that were either moved entirely or merged in part, based upon law enforcement functions, included the investigative and intelligence resources of the United States Customs Service, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Federal Protective Service and, as of November 2003, the Federal Air Marshals Service.
ICE is the investigative arm of the Border and Transportation Security Directorate (BTS), the operational directorate within the DHS tasked with securing the nations borders and safeguarding its transportation infrastructure. The largest component within the DHS, BTS employs more than 100,000 men and women. ICE brings together more than 20,000 employees who focus on the enforcement of immigration and customs laws within the United States U.S., the protection of specified Federal buildings, and air and marine enforcement. By unifying previously fragmented investigative functions, ICE will deliver effective and comprehensive enforcement. ICE is led by an Assistant Secretary who reports directly to the Under Secretary for BTS.
ICE is composed of the following operational Divisions:
* Office of Investigations responsible for investigating a range of issues, including human smuggling; narcotics, weapons and all other contraband smuggling; export enforcement, such as investigating illegal arms exports and exports of dual-use equipment that may threaten national security; financial crimes, such as money laundering, commercial fraud, intellectual property rights (including commercial counterfeiting) violations; cybercrime; immigration crime; and human rights violations.
* Office of Detention and Removal responsible for promoting public safety and national security by ensuring the departure from the United States of all removable aliens through the fair enforcement of the nation's immigration laws.
* Office of Air and Marine Operations responsible for protecting the nation's borders and the American people from the smuggling of people, narcotics and other contraband. Also responsible for detecting and deterring terrorist activity with an integrated and coordinated air and marine interdiction force.
* Office of Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS) responsible for promoting confidence in our nations civil aviation system through the effective deployment of Federal Air Marshals to detect, deter and defeat hostile acts targeting U.S. air carries, airports, passengers and crews.
* Office of Federal Protective Service responsible for policing, securing and ensuring a safe environment in which federal agencies can conduct their business by reducing threats posed against the more than 8,800 federal facilities nationwide.
* Office of Intelligence responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of strategic and tactical intelligence data for use by the operational elements of ICE and the DHS.

Found this on another board:
Fist quote: I had a message on my phone from a detective from the DEA in Iowa. Has anyone ever received a call from them. What could he want? I'm kind of in a panic so please talk to me. unquote.
http://desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040721/LIFE02/407210331/1042
Second follow up quote:Well I did call back and it definately wasn't a prank. They are investigating Buymeds. He said that paperwork showed I had ordered from them in May of 2003. I said yes I recalled using them a couple of times. He also said at the beginning of the conversation that I was not in any trouble. Whew! Anyway, I answered a few of the questions but didn't have a lot of memory of what transpired a year and a half ago! He was actually very nice and pleasant and didn't drill me for very long. It was just a shocker to have that message on my phone. Anyway, the fun's all over with now and I hope never to hear from them again!
Have a great day everyone. unquote
So I guess we all should start expecting phone calls if we have ever used in OP's privacy isn't privacy anymore.........make one go hmmmm

As far as I knew ICE was that horrible substance plaguing the Hawaiian Isles ...smokable methamphetamine...it has truly taken root there and it is terrible.
