Thought I'd try ONE more time.

Shipped: 8/7
Love letter today.
That's it for me. Four seizures from Biotran in a row. I think he should change the appearance of his packaging.
I agree. Without going into details, his packaging needs an upgrade. Out of my last three orders, one was opened (but not seized, for some unknown reason) one was seized, and one made it. Not very encouraging.

I wrote Biotran with a suggestion about altering his packaging methods and received this mail today:
Quote:
Why as your shipment been seized,Biotran is only haveing shipments seized in two states texas and arkansaw. There is 48 states in the u.s.a and until biotran has a problem with about 30 of them, the shipping method will stay the same. There is away to get round this problem by sending shipments by land mail. But land mail can take 14 to 21 days to reach the u.s.a.So thankyou for sending this email but as I say my seizures are about normal.Until I think seizures are quite high biotran will be not changing anything.
So I guess Texas and Arkansas are now on his 'do not ship to' list. Alas! Guess it's back to Alleve and Ibuprofin for me. My pain level is about an "8" right now, though, so I don't think those marvelous PKs will do very much. Guess I could go to the ER ... again! Let's see ... ER visit or pay the mortgage and car note, the electricity bill and buy some food? Choices, choices.
What is this "land mail" he is talking about? I thought everything mailed from Europe went by plane? Can somebody enlighten me? Did they build the trans-Atlantic railroad while I wasn't looking?

So what do you think he means by saying land mail will take 14 to 21 days? Doesn't make very much sense.

I was told by the post office that land mail takes 4 to 6 weeks from the UK.

OK, I understand the tiime thing. But what *IS* "land mail? Do they drive it in a truck down to the docks, load it on a ship, cross the ocean and then put it into another truck for regional delivery once it arrives on these shores?
And why do long? Where does it sit for 6 weeks? In the moldy hold of some decrepit shrimp boat, soaking up salt water vapor and fish aromas? Is there even such a thing a a "mail ship?"
And it seems it'd be MUCH more expensive to go through all that. Does anybody EVER ship anything overseas by land mail? Would that be suspicious in and of itself? Biotran mentioned it in his email so perhaps he regularly uses it. A letter to the U.K. from the U.S. airmail costs an 80¢ stamp. How much would a ground mail stamp cost?
What are the customs issues for land mail as opposed to air mail? Why would land mail be scrutinized less?
Somehow the entire concept seems crazy. Any postal workers here who could enlighten us?

You ask a lot of good questions.
I can tell you that "land mail" means it goes on a ship. I have done this from Switzerland and New Zealand. In both cases, the packages arrived much faster than the times quoted. I suppose that doing it this way might change where it goes through customs, but I really don't know. Anyone?
