I have read that a fire wall is mostly needed if you have DSL. Now I am using dial up as DSL is not available in my area. Not too long ago my computer ended up in such a mess I ended up reformatting my hard drive. My computer was high jacked and I had a couple of trojans along with everything else. I couldn't get to my home page and even my key board was high jacked. I have since purchased spy sweeper and use the free version of spybot and adware. I still do not have a fire wall. Is that a mistake?
Thanks for any advice all of you experts out there can give me.

Hello my friend! yes, you need a firewall for your protection! It also will let you know when an attempt is made to access your computer from outside sources! I am on dial up but still use the macafee firewall and virus software which can be downloaded fron their website for a reasonable fee.
