lonley and in pain
      #183483 - 08/27/04 09:41 PM

is anyone out there? i just got in a bad accident today but nothing to warrent going to the ER, but im just sore now all over. its like the initial shock wore off and now im coming down from the shock and i feel like i was the one getting hit by the car instead of the car itself. has anyone had any experience with the after-affects of a rear-ending? everything is working fine, but feeling fine is another story. the airbags went off and let me tell you, those burns they talk about are no joke. it hurts my lungs! maybe im just spooked more than anything. what a day!

i guess i just want to talk with someone. anyone there?

hello there, i have been rear-ended before and i know how you are feeling. i really did not feel alot until several hours later, could not even move i was so stiff. it was pretty scary thinking how bad it could have been, that is the hard part thinking what it could have been, but you are not alone there is huge support on this board, try and take a nice hot bath and relax your body. watch something on tv and just kick back knowing you are safe at home. if you are in alot of pain tomorrow you may want to consider getting checked out at the er. keep posting and let us know how you are feeling. (((hugs to you))) you are not alone

I got the snot rear ended one time. At the time, I couldn't turn my neck and all I had was my seatbelt, no airbags. I got it checked out at the hospital. If you're filing insurance against the culprit, then you may want to get checked out to make sure there isn't anything that might come back later to bite you in the butt.

I do know from several accidents that I was way more sore the second day than after the initial shock. I actually went work the day of my last accident, but the next day I was too sore and in pain. I looked real sexxxy in a neckbrace for a week or two, lol.

good luck and take care of yourself!

i would be the culprit, so to speak. i was actually driving in my lane on the freeway and some woman that was stopped behind a stalled car in the center lane pulled out in front of me as i was passing and i tried to slam on my breaks but it was inevitable and i hit her. she must not have seen me. it was raining so i hydroplaned which only made it worse. so i was hit in the front, her in the rear. im worried about her as well, since it was really the person's fault who abandoned their car in the middle of the freeway! guess thats why they are accidents. but i am amazed at how life-saving/damaging an air bag can be! isn't that such a crazy comparison? i have such 'rug' burns on my chest and arms and inner thighs (wearing a skirt) but thank god for them.

thanks for the well-wishes. it made me cry! its helpful to know others out there have been in this agony. i know there are far worse (pain and suffering that brought me to this board in the first place for example) and many people on this board are in far more pain, and my thoughts are with you as well.

I'm sorry, I thought you were rear ended. Either way, when I was rearended, I went forward, then back.

Yeah, that's why they're called accidents. The wet highway didn't help either. that happened to once on a 5 lane highway. Just topped the hill and there they were. Luckily I could swirve to the right lane and the person in the right lane swirved to the shoulder. I know any kind of accident sucks. I was one of 4 cars rearended by a Trans Am. I was number two. Two other cars in front of me, so when I got him I hit the lady in front of me and the chain started. The lady's car that hit me was totalled. My rear end was messed (oops that sounds bad), but my car was drivable.

Anyway, don't feel bad. My daughter got in an accident 6 days after getting her newish civic. It was a dumb mistake that we never did while doing drivers' ed. She's paying for it and 3 other accidents. anyway, please take care of yourself and get looked at if you feel its necesary!

Get strong, use common sense, check yourself for dangerous symptoms, and be very quiet. (I can hear the sound of a whole host of unknown friends, pulling for ya.)

For me, it was the airbag that almost broke every rib in my body. (Though the bastard device also saved my life.)

Bend everything tomorrow. If it bends, it's not broken, if it makes you shout "ouch", you will be ok. If you get a sudden shift in consciousness, have someone take you to the ER, immediately.

Many are here, helping you to heal...You just don't know us by name.

I was in a car accident on the way to work a few years ago. Raining, early a.m. so it was still dark out. I was driving on a two lane road going roughly 40 m.p.h. A lady in a minivan made an illegal right hand turn on red and I slammed right into her driver side door. (She was in a middle lane and had a red light) I had a green light and didn't even have time to hit the brakes!! Both cars were totaled and I have back pain to this day as a result. I had an unpaid loan on the car that was several thousand dollars more than the car's worth. The lady that caused the accident was on welfare and had four kids. So I lost a few thousand dollars went through months of physical therapy and have pain to this day. Honestly I know that I'm lucky. It took a while for me to arrive at this point of view but I easily could be crippled or even dead, god forbid. Hang in there, generally it could always be worse!

Another rearending story. I was rear ended last Sept. by a guy driving a leased vehicle. He SAID he was fully insured as he had signed the insurance waiver. I thought to myself, "Wait a minute. If you sign an insurance waiver doesn't that mean you have to get your own insurance on the vehicle?" Anyway, the cop at the scene let the guy go even though he had NO proof of insurance and had an out of state suspended license. The guy talked his way out of it. At one point he was in the patrol car in handcuffs. Great, huh? It did $9,000 damage to my car (it's an expensive car)and I had to pay the $1000 deductible. Here's the rub. My insurance co. called last Oct. & assured me that I would get the deductible back as the company that owned the vehicle was one of their own or they did business w/them or some such garbage. Of course I've never rec'd the $1000. Last time I called they said the case was still open? Anyhow, this has all made me almost agorophobic. I certainly don't drive that expensive car very often. GRRRRR. If it had been my son that had done the rearending, he'd probably have been put in jail!!! I am pretty mad about the whole thing still. I was stopped at a stop light and this guy was not paying attention at all & just slams into me. GRRRRR.
