skelaxin
      #181579 - 08/20/04 09:12 AM

Hi, I was given skelaxin by my Dr. for muscle cramping in my legs, however it doesn't seem effective AT ALL. I would have much preferred soma, which usually does the trick. Has anyone had any experience with this med. and if so did you find it helpful at all? I want to call the Dr. and see if he will switch to Soma, but I don't want him to think I am a drug seeker.......I'm sure I don't need to explain this to you guys, I am sure you all know what I mean. Thanks, Serenity

Muscle relaxers seem to work for different individuals differently, I see no problem with calling your doc and telling him you tried the skelaxin and it doesn't seem to be working and you've had success w/soma in the past...you might want to make another appointment, it's so much easier dealing with the doctor than his staff.

I have used both skelaxin and soma and I agree, skelaxin had no effect for me at all. Soma worked much better. I would call your doctor and explain that it does not work. Even if he does not give you soma right away maybe he will switch you to something like flexerial (sp?) which may or may not work (it did work for me for a short period of time, nothing like soma though), and then you just look like you are trying to find a drug that works for you instead of drug seeking. Just an idea though. Good luck! Muscle pain sucks!

one way to help ensure you WON'T get skelaxin or flexaril in the future is to say you're allergic, if your allergic to both the skelaxin & flexaril, more than likely the doc will ask "what do you usually take, or what works for you" to which you say, of course, "soma"....
