I wonder just how many celebrities' doctors are looked at for THEIR prescribing habits???

But maybe if you have money (lots of it) and fame, you are looked at in a different light if your medicine cabinet has all these things (or more) in them. If you are a celebrity and you get addicted, you are somehow less culpable than the average Joe...perhaps the "what came first? the chicken or the egg?" theory?

Somebody PLEASE explain this one???

Honestly, I would doubt most addicts keep their junk in the med cab anyway! As if it would last long enough!

I guess this is my soapbox for the day!

Best to all!

So I'm an addict because I have these in my cabinet? This is an extremely narrow minded newspaper.

The perfect place for this anecdote, antique!

JOKE-

Mary and her son, Joe, were cleaning out the attic and came across an old photo of deceased Uncle Bob. Knowing the entire family was coming later that day for the holidays, Mary lamented to Joe that she must finish cleaning and put away everything in the house. Joe asked his mother if he could have that photo of old Uncle Bob.

Joe took it into the bathroom and pasted it on the inside of the medicine cabinet. Mary asked her son why he did so and was told "you'll see."

After the family arrived and the meal was served, a curious Aunt Edna loudly asked, "Why is there a picture of Uncle Bob in the medicine cabinet?" Everyone thought that was, indeed, a bit strange to have a photo in the medicine cabinet. Then Joe piped up and asked, "But, Aunt Edna, what WERE you doing in our medicine cabinet???"

END OF JOKE....

Oh, come on, it IS funny!

So, the moral of the story is...stay out of other people's medicine cabinets (and that includes all of you who peek behind the shower curtain, too!!! )

I cannot be surprised anymore by the depravity, hypocrisy and inaccuracy of the western media, I noticed they failed to mention Rush Limbaugh went def because he took too many Oxys (no wonder he talks so much), I don't blame the Rep.'s or the Dem.'s for these media hyped BS stories, their are many underlying reasons the US and western media is just a bunch of tabloid garbage. Not least of which is foreign influence.

Quincy, that's a turn-around - the doctor having to expose him/herself to others!

That is so incredibly intrusive - not just having to pee in front of someone else but also having to submit some of your bodily fluids for inspection.

There is a lot of anger being expressed on this board. That's good, but we need to find a way to harness it and use it. At the very least I hope everyone here intends to express their feelings come election time!!! I know that I will!

My mother is a nurse in hospice care and actually have patients families tell her they'd rather not have their loved ones take 'such and such meds' as they don't want them on drugs!!

That reminds me of how some companies have jumped on this bandwagon of demonizing chemicals. They tout their products as being "chemical free" or having "no chemicals." Well, guess what?? water is a chemical... is it bad to have water in the product? They are trying to form and reinforce an association in peoples' minds that "chemicals" = toxic and cancer-causing substances.

Similarly, over time the word "drug" has come to be associated with illegal drugs. Certainly, a person who had given up his cocaine habit but still took nexium for his heartburn everyday could still proclaim himself to be "drug-free."

My point after all this rambling is that ...oh hell I forgot.

Good one!! All kidding aside, though, I get the feeling that I'm not the only one here who is kind of offended by what "The Addict's Medicine Cabinet" implies. Just because people have prescription medicine doesn't automatically make them an addict. And for the record, I don't keep mine in a medicine cabinet, I keep them in the top drawer of my computer desk

this is a society of labels, what are you a morning person, a liberal, a health nut, an addict, a good risk, a blabermouth, a good eater, a overeater, a lost soul, a flamer, a nerd, a good american, Sh&%*&%8 we all know who we are and NO label wil stick unless you let it. My Karate Instructor once told me, An empty can makes the most noise, for whatever that means, I'm a polok.... but I don't care! I look in the mirror and shed all the labels for my own truth and "we are our worst critics"

man, bla bla bla to me!

no offense to anyone!

Well it's time for my nightly meds, some wine and we rented "kill Bill"

what am i in for

Sounds like you need your nighty meds, Rhino, but I'd take it easy on the wine, OK? Wouldn't want anything unforturnate happen to you. And by all means, vent. What you said was on point, no doubt. I'm at the point where I just feel like "F" what society thinks about what labels they try to give us. You only live once, and some of the more unfortunate members of the board with terminal cancers NEED these meds, just as those of us who are in chronic pain and have anxiety disorders. Or anything else in GENERAL...we're all here for the same reason, support and non-judgemental feedback from other people who can relate to and understand what it feels like to be in our situations.

So screw what the Gov thinks. Come November, I have a feeling that all of this heat will eventually die down...my 2 cents on it, anyway. So just enjoy the movie and most of all, try to relax
