Hi all, I know I've been posting on here a lot about my experiences with anxiety disorder, but now I have a different question and was wondering if anyone could help me answer a few questions.
About 6 months ago, I injured my back in work. I had already had a pre-existing back injury that I sustained in a car accident 5 years ago. After the car accident, I was diagnosed as having "whiplash" and soft tissue damage in my lower back. The doctor I saw never ordered any kind of tests to see how severe my injuries were, he just prescribed me some prescription Motrin and some muscle relaxers and after a few days, I was feeling much better. I chose not to sue the person who rear-ended me (big mistake) because I was 25 at the time and thought that I had made a complete recovery and would never have problems with my back again. You know, the old "invincibility" assumption that most people in their 20's have. I would occasionally have back pain after that, mostly in rainy and damp weather, but nothing so painful that I couldn't handle by taking a few ibuprofen.
Well, to get to the point, when I hurt myself in work, I had to go out on Worker's Compensation for it and was finally diagnosed after they ordered an MRI for me. The report that they gave me is dated February 25, 2004. My diagnosis reads as follows:
IMPRESSION: 1) Mild to moderate degenerative disc disease at L4-5 and L5-S1.
2) Disc Protrusions at L4-5 and L5-S1 without significant canal or foraminal stenosis. The lumbar vertebrae demonstrate normal height, alignment and signal. There is mild to moderate degenerative disc disease at L4-5 and L5-S1 with disc herniation. There is loss of the disc height at L5-S1.
Now, of course, this is all greek to me, but having many family members and friends in the healthcare industry to explain what it meant helped me, somewhat. Basically, I have a permanent back injury that is probably going to only get worse over time. I was discharged from PT in June and discontinued treatment with the doctor I was seeing, and to be honest, he really didn't do much for me in the way of pain medication anyway. He dispensed Flexeril to me right out of his office and wrote me a prescription for Bextra, which did nothing for me at all. I was switched to Relafen after that, still no relief. I've always been more of an ibuprofen person, and with the anxiety meds that I take, I've always been afraid to go the hydro route.
But now, my back is killing me again. I stupidly tried to rearrange some furniture and I think I set myself back to where I was when I injured myself in work. My sister gave me a few Vicodin back when I injured my back in work, because I was so insanely in pain at the time that I would have been willing to try anything at that point. Of course, I laid off the anxiety meds when I took them, like I said, I'm scared to death to mix that kind of stuff together. But the Vicodin helped...a lot. I didn't build a tolerance to it, mostly because I didn't take it long enough, I guess.
So, my question is, if I were to say, order some Vicodin or Norco off NWW or one of the other records OP's to keep around in case my back starts acting up, how recent do your records have to be, what diagnosis do you have to have, and do you have to prove that it's been prescribed to you before? Which is the best site to order from? I'm completely clueless when it comes to this. And also, if I were to order, which is the best brand? My sister swears by Norco 10/325's, but I had to break those in half when I took them. A friend suggested Vicodin 7.5's. Thanks in advance to all that respond!!

What you posted would you have as med records of the back condition if faxxed to NWW would be sufficient. Remember also they will send you the first order without records but they have to be recieved before you refill. I have chronic kidney stones and took the 10/650 but made me so nauseas even though the pain was better I was so sick at my stomach I still couldn't function. Half of one, didn't help the pain so I switched to the vicodin 7.5/750 and it does wonderful! It helps the pain but doesn't nauseat me.
I don't know about the other op's except for apainsolution whom my brother uses and your records would work for them as well. He has a mangeld leg with pins in it from being ran over by a truck while on his snowmobile a few years back.
Most records should be no more than 2 years old. However yours are newer so great for you and you are all set! Pick out a provider to use and your on your way. NWW is busy so plan for a day or two to get you consult if you use them but then if you schedule and early consult meds can be there next day. There is alot of controversy about NWW but I have been using them a year and they have been great. I have had a problem here or there but it was resolved ALWAYS within a few hours and had meds next day! But you do what is right for you by all means! The difference with NWW is I have complete faith they will be around along time and some very postivie changes are in the works with them!
Apainsolution is also good and my brother wouldn't be using them if he didn't think so as well.
The PA with NWW and your records probably will dispense 120 with 2 refills.
apainsolution i think is 90 max with 2 refills.

your records should work for any of the record op's usually 1-2 years is sufficient, another good op i read about is youronlinedoctor.com, best of luck to you, and like rk said, nww will consult you and send your first months meds before records need to be faxed, they are having some delays right now so you will need patience, ive been on pain meds for 2 years from cancer, i take the 10/325's, they are an excellent pain med, and i take them for the less apap wich is better for the old liver

Thank you very much for your reply and all the information. I just have one more question though, if you don't mind.
How often would I have to get refills? Like I said, I'm not used to taking this sort of medication and probably wouldn't need to refill it every month, so I was wondering if you knew if I could wait a few months between refills or not? Thanks!

I forgot to ask the most important question I had, which is, how do you go about faxing medical records to a records OP? I don't have access to a fax machine. I was thinking that maybe I could go to a copy center and try to do it there, but was wondering if I would get any odd looks from the people working there. What methods do you use?
Thanks again,

When I used the local kinko's, I did not worry about the looks, its NONE of their business. I pay them to fax the info. For all the receptionist at the kinko's knows, its to a specialist! I pay them the money, and they fax it. I don't tell them any more than they need to know. Don't offer them an explanation.

I hear what you're trying to say, Trixxie, and thanks for your input. I don't know, it just seems like even though I know I'm not doing anything wrong, as I do have records, and I do have a legitamate condition, I still feel weird about using OP's. I guess it's because of all the negative media attention? Anymore, it seems like if people know you're ordering from an OP, they automatically assume you're doing something illegal. B.S. if you ask me, I really shouldn't care at all what other people think! Thanks for putting that into perspective for me.
