Don't mean to scare anyone, but if you or someone you know is having problems with Xanax (or Benzos in general) and is considering withdrawing, tapering and quitting, here is an extensive article that may be of help. Having been through it, I can attest that Benzo withdrawal is VERY SERIOUS. And, scarily, MOST doctors are unaware of the extent of the problem. Good luck to anybody who wants to get off Benzos, especially Xanax.
thanks for the article, it was most informative. i am prescribed some xanax. i sure am glad i never got hooked on it. like i said, the key factor is to have a ZERO blood level of xanax the majority of the time.
If your a person that has 7 or 8 panic/anxiety attacks a month and thus you use it 7 or 8 times a month, thats great. It has saved you from panic which is almost as bad as withdrawl, AND you dont get hooked on it, because your blood level is ZERO most of the time.
On the other hand if you take it daily and theres always some amount of xanax in your system, theres constantly receptor downregulation and dependance.
