I must be really odd - I find that Xanax does absolutely NOTHING to help me, I'm 105 pounds and have taken upto 4mg at a time.
Nada.
Maybe I got bum tabs.
Give me valium any day, still takes 30/40/50 to help me out though...
Am I weird ?

It IS possible that xanax doesn't affect you in any way. I've never heard of this with xanax but I know first-hand that it can happen with Ativan. A friend was prescribed Ativan by his doc for whatever reason, so he got his meds and started taking them as prescribed. Nothing happened. He tried more, still nothing. Again with more, STILL nothing. He ended up back at the doc's office complaining that the med must be bunk because it had no noticable action on him. The doc told him that his previous usage of valium had worked and that he should just increase the Ativan dose a bit and then things should work, to which my friend told the doc the extent of how many he had tried before giving up in defeat. It was something like 18 or 20 2mg ativan taken within just a handful of hours. The doc, of course, thought he was just a drug-seeker at this point and basically told him he was a liar and a bad one at that. So, my friend and the doc agreed to him being hooked up to the proper monitoring equipment and then be given Ativan to find out what was really going on, all while being monitored by trained docs and nurses. They started out on a low dose and the machines reported nothing happening. They increased the dose, and increased the dose, and kept increasing the dose until it got to the point tht the doc was getting pretty concerned about the safety of my friend. At the end of the experiment my friend had a massive amount of the drug in his system, yet it wasn't being broken down by his body so that it would work and it was eventually being passed out of his body thru the normal methods. My friend wasn't lying, the doc finally had to admit. It turns out that some portion of the population does not make enough of a certain enzyme or something similar in the body that lorazepam (ativan) needs to break down and make a change in the human body.
Sorry to ramble on, but I thought that story might help ya relate. It could be that you ARE immune to alprazolam. If it concerns you then by all means visit your doc and do some investigating..
Good Luck!
