I didn't know about Prozac, I am taking Prozac. I don't want to quit it though.

Recently I've been getting night sweats and I wondered if it wasn't from the hydro. I take 3-4/day of 10/325. These are night sweats like the ones that I got right after having a baby. I wake up with wet hair and wet sheets.

I think hydro is less of an offender than other opiates, such as codeine, but still... I always take a claritin pill in the morning to avoid this, and it appears to work.

I've been prescribed codeine for years, and never had the same perspiration problem as I did with hydro (none at all, really).... but as you say, it can depend what else is in your system at the time.

The antihistamine's great for any itching, though -- the codeine *does* cause that with me!

Just-a-note: if you are on any SSRI's (such as Prozac), do NOT stop taking them abruptly for any reason! These need to be stepped off of gradually.

One funny thing that happened to me once was I kept getting horrible sweats during only the night and I would wake up drenched. I literally thought I was dying or something because at the time I was not taking pain meds.

Well I went to my Universitys medical clinic and the doc there actually said I had symptoms of depression (which I did not think I had) anyway, he put me on Wellbrutin and I did actually start feeling better, but the sweating did not stop.

Long story short, one night my dog threw up on the Down Comforter so I had to replace it with a different quilt. Then, for some reason I woke up refreshed that next morning without any signs of the sweating.

The next night ....same comforter and same results. Yep, it was the down comforter that did it to me, can you believe it? The doctor said depression and I almost believed it, even though I felt better and more energized from that Wellbrutin, I stopped taking it when I found out what had been causing the sweats. Then from that point on I did not put the down on the bed and the sweats went away immediately. Wish I could do something that easy again, but I am afraid my sweating is from the narcotics, and is here to stay (unfortunately for me!!)

This is slightly OT, but to respond to the above post. I was very sick a few years ago, to the point the lung doctor thought I had some rare lung disease. I had major breathing problems - turns out I'm allergic to dust. All I needed was a HEPA filter in each room and I was back to normal (for me!). It's amazing how a little thing can cause major problems.
