Neighbor stole my meds
      #174541 - 07/15/04 05:15 PM

Don't trust anybody! I was doing my laundry and left my
door unlocked and a neighbor went straight for my medicine
cabinet and emptied my bottle. The laundry room is only
50 feet from my door and I was only in there 5 minutes.
I knew who took them but did not accuse them because I had
no actual proof. This person then comes up to me a week
later and asks me if I had any painkillers. What GALL!
He was taken freakin 8 of them a day and got himself hooked.
It is times like this it is really hard to turn the other
cheek and be a good Christian. I lost my job because I was
in too much pain to work. From now on I will keep them
locked in my truck because I always keep it locked.
I feel like setting a trap for the bastard and get
him caught and sent to jail. I know he would take the bait.
I don't want to tell the police because he is the type of
person that would key my brand new truck.
Any suggestions out there what I should do?
I tried to order Ultram but they don't ship to my state.
Any ideas would be appreciated, maybe I should us Rxgood
deals but I don't want to appear to double dip when I
am really not doing it.

This doesn't help your immediate situation, but Healthcarepharma has INCREDIBLE prices on Ultram, and offer really fast delivery. I ordered a bunch a while back just to have on hand for emergencies...sounds like you could use some too! But considering your situation, if you are in W/D, I would go ahead and order from another OP.

My niece took my Percocet while baby sitting my son.I had just had surgery.I was lucky my Ortho had worked on me before, and gave me some Vicodin. At the family Christmas party I put the bottle in a nicely wrapped box. Added a note that said, Next time ask! Merry Christmas. She then got caught stealing her eighty five year old Grandfathers Norcos. How low is that? If your neighbor would come after you or your property for exposing them, best to let it alone. It still sucks. There are some good tramadol sites listed on this board, Or just search Google. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about this. Obviously from now on you'll be keeping your door locked. From your description of your neighbor, it's best not to confront him. Do you think he would go so far as to break into your apartment to steal your medication in the future, after all he now knows that you had it ? If he's that bad, you might want to consider moving. Hope it's nothing that drastic. Good luck.

If you can afford to buy a new truck, you can afford to buy a house. Especially with the FHA ZERO down programs-ask the seller to pay the closing costs, and you can buy a house for $500, or less even. Get out of your stinkin apartment, that's the thing to do. People break in to trucks too.

Know where he works? Maybe an anonomous phone call that he is taking scheduled drugs for recreational use? If you have any luck at all they will do a 'random' urine test and cause him the pain he caused you!

Get some empty gelatin capsules and fill them with rat poison and draino crystals, let him steal those and laugh your Best if kept off the board off when the coroner shows up.

Now that's sweet revenge.

Remember I am a Christian so filling pills with poison is
kind of out of the question. The pills aren't gelatin
so it is kinda of impossible anyway. The camcorder is a
great idea and I would do it but don't have the money for
one now. The truck I bought was all on credit. I will
have my medical records Monday. Does any body know if
you can have a script filled on a Friday and tell them
to hold it at Fedex hub for pick up so you don't have to
pay Saturday delivery charges?

The bathroom is the worst place for medications, it is too humid and everyone goes there to steal the meds. I've run into similar problems before. I've recommeneded to everyone to keep all of these types of medications locked up in the back of a locking file cabinet. It's locked and no one usually will look there for medications. That's where I keep mine now. In a humidor deep in the back of a large file cabinet. Children nor adults can get to it or even pick up the cabinet.

Sorry to hear that your meds were stolen. It has happened to me and countless others. A couple of weeks ago there was a thread on this board, Where do you keep your meds? A lot of people had a situation similar to yours with their meds being stolen. You may want to take a look at it. It had some good ideas about where to hide meds. Also I have run out of meds while on vacation and took the bottle to a doc in the box place and showed them the bottle and they prescribed enough for me to take the duration of my trip. I don't know if that helps you any. Good luck. Curiousdee

I would never suggest anyone ACTUALLY do that! I understand the frustration of losing meds when you need them so badly. You should teach your neighbor to be more "christian" with respect to your personal space and your meds.

If religion fails, use a baseball bat.

Feel better!

Good lord all mighty! No baseball bats for the man / woman... come on now ya here!

Really the best thing to do is buy a lock box at your local Office Depot, ect and put them under the sink (if you don't have children that come by or live at home). Also, if you have a stove *which most people do* you can put that lock box where the pans are, in the droor that is usually at the bottom. Just some ideas, but always lock them up. If that fails and you don't want to pay the money for a lock box, then if you have a cabinet where toilet paper goes and you have many rolls always filled, put the medication in the furthest tube in the back. No one usually ever looks there. But don't leave them in the bathroom. Worst place!.

It's sad to say, but almost everyone will have someone over to their place at some time, that will be snoopy! No matter where you live or what class of friends you surround your self with. Just make sure you have a note rolled up in the pill bottle that says. "Your being watched, don't steal please!".. That usually detours them off as well.

Trust me, I surround myself with honest people (so I think), but one can never be to careful.

Tred =)

i don't know, but i don't think locking them in a truck would be that great of an idea. don't most meds need to be stored @ room temp? it'd get too hot in a vehicle.

I have had meds stolen by family members and ex-friends enough times for me to have learned a few good lessons. I now keep them locked and well hidden. After the last one was confronted, I haven'y had it happen again. One was even my husband at the time, he is now my ex.

Read the boards about this. It happens quite alot. Get a good hiding place. BTW--I live in an apartment as well. And they have been stolen out of my apartment as well as out of my car, so don't think that anyplace is safer than another. Get a good locked safe.

A nice safe at Ofice Max/Depot/Staples will run you about 100-150 for one with a dial and/or keyed lock. I have 2 of them and they are HEAVY!

Did he take the bottle or empty it and leave it in place?

Step 1 - Rig another bottle and put a fake label on it (Vicodin or whatever it is that appeals to him).

Step 2 - Go out and buy some generic Tylenol or something in capsules and empty the contents (actually cheaper than buying empty gel capsules from the pharmacy).

Step 3 - Grind up Ex-Lax and stuff in capsules.

Step 4 - Watch him run down the hall like this -
