I used to work for a surgeon that overprescribed a surgery patient hydrocodone (120 in a week) and had valium and drank beer (the patient) of course he blew a vessel in his brain and died of an aneurism. I know it was because of the meds and the beer. But hydros and valium don't mix especially when being chased by beer. Some people think they are indestructable and can take a handful of pills and wash it down with beer, that is what these docs are restricting. Thank goodness they aren't as paranoid as family docs who won't give you anything but anti-inflammatories when you are in pain.

Just wondering if you are still in the medical field to date ? I wonder how many pills he was taking ? Everytime I hear a sad story of someone who died fron the mixture of various meds & beer it always seems to be the beer that does them in not to say the other medications don't play a roll but when taking pills the #1 rule is do not drink. I know many people who take these meds together as directed and don't have any problems but when beer or liquor are introduced into the mix it usually turns out bad . I hear many story's of people who mix liquor with Oxy's and never wake up & that is just sad. Thank God for boards like this that inform us of the dangers we face when mixing or taking the wrong stuff together.
