help stolen perscription
      #172852 - 07/05/04 08:32 PM

does anyone knowm if i had a perscription 4 meds and a person stole it from me to fill,if i went to the dr. that wrote it 4 me,could he put in the rx # and red flag the script through the pharmacies -through out nj, where i am,i thought only a pharm could red flag a person,my friend said if go to dr.hell input rx # into his office computer and it will go to all pharmacies, ive never heard of a dr. office doing that,if i knew what pharm the friend was taken it to then they could call, but a dr. computer isnt hooked to pharmacies right, does any one know this stuff, and answers pm or post asap please

Why don't you just call your doctor's office in the morning and ask them? I'm sorry i don't have the answer for you. I really have no clue if they can do that or not, but why not call and ask?

You can always notify the police and tell them who stole your prescriptions.

If you notify the police, they'll put out an alert to all the pharmacies in the area to watch for any prescription with your name on it for that particular drug.

I don't think a drug has an Rx number until after it's filled - but maybe things are different in different states? I also don't think there's a "pad #" on the prescription pads? At least I've never seen any.

If I were you, I would report it to both my Doctor AND the police. The Dr. will ask you to call the police anyway.

Scrabby

P.S. Sorry to hear this happened

I had to file a report to the police once years ago because I had a filled script stolen out of my car within 2 hrs. after getting it filled. they told me theres really nothing they can do. They filled out a report but nothing became of it. I just went back to the dr. the same day and told him what happened. I think a guy in the pharmacy overheard what I was getting, and followed me! I just remember seeing the same guy at the next store I went to.

Wish you Luck.

"go to dr.hell input rx # into his office "

Hehe I pasted the above from the original post. Sorry it doesn't have much to do with this thread, but I thought your Doctor was named Dr.Hell lol..

Good luck

Re: RX numbers. Yeah, numbers are assigned to the script when the pharmacy fills it. Each pharmacy has a different way of numbering. Some of them have special sequences for controlled drugs. Also, in some states a triplicate prescription pad is required to write for schedule II narcotics (percocet, demerol, etc). Those are numbered and 1 copy stays with the pharmacy for 7 years, one goes to the prescribing doctor and one goes to the state board of pharmacy.
hope that helps.
