Flaming/Flame Wars
Flaming is reacting to someone's board posting or PM in a hostile manner by publicly chastising the person or bombarding the person with nasty posts or PM's. Flaming may occur to users that engage in behavior that violates what is considered proper board netiquette. A flame war occurs when two or more users flame each other in an escalating manner that threatens to continue unabated. If you notice a flame war developing just notify the moderator or adminitrator and let them handle it. Do not take part in flame wars. If you do you will be banned even if you did not start it :-)

Outrageous Cost of RX Medications in United States
      #172658 - 07/04/04 11:09 AM

This article is a must read for EVERYONE in this country. As someone who has worked in pharmaceuticals this comes as NO surprise to me - but seeing the cost of the active ingredient in an Rx drug vs the markup on a website sure is. Sorry I can't get link from there to here - but here is URL:

when I worled as a manager at a EMS company i was invloved in ordering/billing. the government controls the cost to some extent. the formula is (the exact cut off i do not remeber) is X price times 333% = billing price to consumer.
so we bought a 10 mg vial of morphine at .50 cents we charged aprox 38.00. then the ins company disallowed 72 % and we got what was left. the unisured/self pay had to pay full price. I know the mark up formula is for all medicar/medicaid. the whole chain used it.
so the consumer can not really be sure of the cost to make and the 'real' price of the medication

cost of valium to Pham's [Re: johng]
      #172700 - 07/04/04 07:39 PM

The cost of valium 10mg - my buddy had a drug store - for generic 10mg valiums, two years ago, he paid less than $10 per 1,000 tablets. When you purchase 30 generic from an internet site for $80-$90 it nothing but REAL profit. According to my prescription #'s from a few of the no record pharmacies, I'd guess they are filling aver 1000 prescriptions daily via internet transactions. Do the math -not a bad living until you flee the county to avoid prosecution.

The major drug stores are not much better. Last week I got lucky and received a 90 count prescription for VICOPROFEN 200mg/7.5mg from my regular Dr. The script cost me $98 for generic, name brand was $185 from wal-mart (cost of that deal is about $.09 each) They were ABBOTTS LABS and appear weak to me.

You better hope you never get sick or if you do, you never run out of money or insurance.

Unfortunately the outrageous costs of Rx drugs is something unique to this country - why do you think the elderly are up in arms and tripping into Canada and raising hell with the politicians who are in the hip pocket of the pharmaceutical cartel.

In the Scandinavian countries EVERYONE has health insurance and is assured of top notch medical care no matter what their income.

R U listening politicians - esp Republican Politicians who favor the status quo. Come November DC is in for a BIG shakeup - will it help - only if all of us keep the pressure on.....

thats why you see these sites pop up for a year or 2 than vanish, either the guy can retire to mexico, or he closes down and starts under another name, genius actually, theres a few guys out there getting some serious cash, thing is not to get too greedy and stay around too long and get caught

social medicine never works. in canada people have to wait months to years for totla knees and other srtopedic procedures. that is not good medicine. yes there is high cost to american medicine but if you want an elective surgery ou dont have to wait a long time. part of the high cost is ins. because so much lawsuits.
social medicne will not help us CP patients, it would defintly reduce our options.. there is nothing about repulicans wanting status quo. i sure dont. but i do not want social medicne.
