Baclofen. Is it good?
      #172541 - 07/03/04 12:44 PM

Has anyone used Baclofen for muscle spasms? If so, does it make you feel euphoric or help you sleep? Is it worth trying? Thanks in advance for your help.

You may want to look up the drug at rxlist. Once you are on it, you do not want to discontinue use abruptly. There other meds for muscle spasms that have a safer profile. That said it can be very effective.

I do not want to discourage you from using this med, just know what you are taking.

Yes. Baclofen is good if you have a spinal cord injury. Be careful when you first start doseage. It takes about a week or so to become use to the side effects. But after you have it under your belt you feel much better and don't seem to require as much opiate. My doctor explained to me it helps block the pain signals from you spinal cord to the brain sensor. It's tough when you start out taking it though. You need a lot of SLEEP. Good luck to you.

If you call sleepy euphoria, you could say so....be careful...if you start this drug, you must taper off rather than stop abrubptly, as it can cause seizures to discontinue without tapering...I personally find zanaflex much more effective

Baclofen is widely used for inflammation also. It doesn't get you"high". I am a Medical Assistant and am familiar with alot of medications. You can also look them up on the online PDR.

Thanks all. Doc wants me to give it a try. I'm willing to try it.
