I have taken 2 10/325 a day for a year now and go through periods where I just have to pee all the time. I know it is certainly better to pee too much than not enough. Just concerned about the kidneys. Frequent urination is one of the listed symptoms of Analgesic Nephropathy. Any one else have this problem?

That can be a symptom of many things, first coming to my mind is diabetes, then UTIs (which can also have the opposite symptom of not peeing enough) I would think nephrotic diseases or conditions would have associated pain but Im no expert at all.

I highly doubt it. www.webmd.com may help you.
You should consider yourself lucky and I respect the fact you have stuck with your dosage. It is oh-so easy to start taking 3 or 4 a day. Before you know it you are at 6 then 8 etc...
Good job in that aspect

I doubt it as well. I think it could be any number of things- you should ask a doctor, there's no way to tell without a physical and lab tests. Way too many things it could be to even guess like that. I'd be surprised if it was anything harmful or in any way related to the painkillers.

I'd be willing to be 1000 dollars you have a simple UTI...at the rate your taking your meds, the other diagnosis is a far stretch....as they told us in school...if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck & talks like a duck, it's probably a duck...go get a simple UA & c&S and I'd bet your problem is simply solved....

You probably let yourself get dehydrated when you are on a hydro holiday. That would account for not urinating as much.
Tip: Take something to fix your electrolyte balance when withdrawing, like Gatorade or Pedialyte. There are recipes for a homemade electrolyte solution if you Google it. Being dehydrated on top of withdrawal makes it a lot worse- you will feel even more fatigued and it can make the bowel problems worse as well.
But when you say, on your hydro, you pee 2-3 times a night...does that mean you wake up 2-3 times a night to pee...or does it mean, you pee 2-3 times while you're awake?

I wake 2-3 times a night when on hydro. when on holiday I sleep thru the night. its weird. I sleep deeper when on hydro. duing the day I also pee more when on hydro. I was a paramedic and i got the ablity not to pee for almost 20 hours when we were really busy. i have not been out of EMS that long.

Here's a thought. I know one possible side effect listed for hydo is urinary retention. I have the same experience as you do. I think that when on hydro you retain or keep more urine. You feel the need to go so often because there is more urine being stored. When the bladder contains a certain amount nature calls. You and I may think we are emprtying our bladders with each bathroom visit, but actually keeping a lillte each time. Thus we feel the need more often to get up and go.It is a diificult thing to be able to tell there is a change in the amount of each urination, but this would be my guess.
Or then again it could be a simple urinary tract infection.
