Is there a Doctor in the house?(odd taste in mout)
      #171844 - 06/30/04 07:18 AM

I've been taking about 3,000 mg of APAP daily, for a few years now. There was a time that I'd been taking 4,000 to 5,000 a day. I take 325's. I know theres a thread about this, I just can't find it. Could some-one point me in the right direction. I'm concerned that I may be having a problem because I tasted copper in my mouth when I woke up this morning. I'm not sure, but I think heard somewhere that this might have something to do with liver problems? I hope its not the case. I do not drink, and I have NOT ever had any trouble with throwing up. Which if I'm not mistaken, is one of the signs that you have OD'd on APAP. ANY information would be appreciated.

p.s I have cut my dose to 1,500mg's of APAP a day, and once in a while I'll do 2,500 in a day if the pain is bad.

I found some info on this site.

Looks like I need to lay off the protiene shakes, and add Milk Thistle, Dandelion Root, Garlic, Alpha-lipoic acid, Caster oil, and Magnesium.

Again, any further information appreciated would be greatly appreciated. Next time I see my GP (few months), I will ask him to run tests.

Thanks for your help!

A sinus infection can cause that same taste in your mouth. It doesn't seem to me that you take enough tylenol to harm your liver.

If your still concerned about it then I would call the doctor and explain the situation.

Good Luck!

one of the first signs of liver damage or illness is jaundice.(yellowing of the skin & eyeballs,) dark urine, ..if you dont' have it, you're more than likely ok....you could always have liver enzymes done....but as long as your APAP usage has been in the range of 4000 mg /day, you should be fine....

I did a google search about this and these are a few of the causes:
Gum Diseasse (tooth infection)
Post nasal infection (sinus)
Hepatitis
If you on the atkins diet ketosis can cause this
I am not a doctor by any means just trying to help.

There is a rather extensive thread about APAP and liver disease on the DB board somewhere, but I can't find it again.

Thanks guys! I don't think my eyes are yellow..lol My skin is rather white.. I guess I'm ok. I think I'll still have tests done next Dr visit. (Just to be safe)
