Hello everyone:
I found this topic discussed in previous threads, but I wanted to get your opinions on my specific situation.
I know that I'll be having a drug test coming up sometime within the next 60 days (for the sake of 'randomness' I don' know when). I do know that they will be using a test panel that detects opiates and benzos (both of which I take, but neither of which negatively affect my ability to do my job. In fact, the hydro improves it). I have a script from my local general practitioner for the benzos, so I feel fine about them, but my hydro comes from an OP. Has anyone ever presented a script bottle from an OP as proof of a legit RX for a drug test? I also have some cough syrup with hydrocodone from the same general practitioner who prescribes the benzos. If asked, should I use that as my hydro prescription instead?
Just wanted to get the opinion of some fellow OP users. Thanks in advance.

Just list the drug, the dosage & the doctors name...if they require you bring the bottle, don't say ANYTHING, chances are they won't even notice...it's a legal script..so there should be no problem
Good luck

I would think if they ask why the state is different on the prescription bottle then the state you reside,(Florida) tell them you had a prescription transferred over there because the prices are cheaper. I don't know, just my two cents worth.

Is it done on site? I worked for a Nursing Home years ago and when they did a random drug test it was done by them so any information about what was in my system they knew about. I do believe, (someone else can back me up on this) that as long as you state it from the get go, it will be alright, if they question it then you may have to prove it. If it is an independent tester then they may send the results to the employer with all that was found and they may mark it postive or negative depending on what you report. Again I believe they are looking for street drugs and not regular drugs that can be explained. Let us know how it goes.

Just my two cents, I would use your hydro cough syrup from your doctor that gave you the benzos, just in case they want the prescription print out or want to see it, you never know, then they might question you about you ordering from op's.

I doubt it...I've had random drug screens for years where I used to work...and you simply tell them what drugs your taking that are prescribed for you currently...that's it...I think we're all just a bit paranoid...HONESTLY, the LESS said the better....just say I'm currently taking hydro or vicodin prescribed by Dr. XXXX and leave it at that...you'll get yourself in far more trouble trying to offer info they don't want & don't need.

The test will be done by an outside lab on site.
I agree IMSUSCOT, I don't want to give them too much info up front. I know for a fact that the test will be in the evening; it could be that the sample is so diluted that nothing shows up (I drink water like crazy anyway) and then I've told them my business for nothing.
Anyway, thanks for your input, everyone. I'll post back if anything happens (it's going to be a lonnnnnnng 60 days )
Thanks again
Sabine

Why don't you try stopping altogether taking hydro for, say, a week or so? You're better off that way!

That's the right approach, Beta, but I didn't know when the test would be, just some time over a 60-day period. Anyway, I had it last week. The girl in line in front of me asked "Do you need to know about any prescription medications we're taking?" The guy said not to worry about it then; they'd call us if there was a problem. It's been one week ago today and I haven't heard anything, so I'm guessing (knock wood) all is well. As I said, the test was in the evening and I'm sure my sample was somewhat diluted. That probably worked in my favor as well. Thanks for all the advice!!

Ugh - I had the same experience. I just applied and received a pharmacy position, so the test and physical was done by the hospital I will be working for. They asked to know what I've taken in the past 90 days, and since I've had two surgeries and kidney stones in that period, it was a LONG list including percocet, dererol, morphine, fentanyl, and hydro. Didn't look good!!! Given the nature of my position, I hope I'm not flagged or anything.
They wanted to know just about everything under the sun about me, including whether or not I have any tattoos, and whether or not I've ever had depression or anxiety. None of their business as long as I do my job, as far as I'm concerned! (grumble)
