I want to send money to Brazil to Gehrkes BUT I do not understand about how much to declare and weight and do I have a pickup scheduled or drop it off at UPS or FedEx? What is DHL or global express(USPS)? Who do I pick between these options and is it safe to send cash? Anyone can offer any thoughts or suggestions?

I initially clicked on this because I thought the topic was "How do you send monkey overseas?" Not as interesting now!

When I used to deal with them, I used to send a WU Money order or a Moneygram. I don;t remember having any problems!
Why are you using UPS or FEDEX? If your just sending money it would go in a overnight letter package and there's nothing to declare or weigh!

To have a tracking number so we both know that it got there.

Okay, so then use a Fed Ex letter pack. How much can cash weight? Go to your local Fed Ex or UPS office (I would suggest having the money in a secondary envelope to put in the Fed Ex package), they have everything you need (shipping materials, shipping forms, etc.) and will gladly walk you though the process. Just declare/describe the contents as documents or something. What ever you do don't put down "cash!"
On a final note, I would recommend a money order over cash if he will accept it. It's slightly safer and attracts less attention as it is one piece of paper as opposed to a wad of bills....

On, and regarding which service to use, my recommendation is Fed Ex first, UPS second. Fed Ex is the most expensive but has the best tracking and excellant delivery success percentages (i.e. they don't loose many packages). UPS is slightly cheaper and almost as good.
Avoid the express delivery option from the USPS like the plague especially for sending money. Although the cheapest, they have the highest loss and theft rate of any overnight service. Also, their packages tend to go through a lot more "hands" increasing the chances of theft or loss.

Don't tell them you're sending money, it will be much more expensive because of mandatory insurance. Just wrap the money in a piece of paper so it can't be seen through the envelope, make it look like documents.
