My doctor is quiting the medical practice. I was refered to anothe rdoctor. I have been taking percocet 10/650 for a year now. Can the new doctor cut me off and not prescribe this medication anymore if he wants too? I have heard that most referels from doctor to doctor will continue the medication..........but what if he doesn't? I am covered by any regulations here?

Yes, the new doctor can cut you off without even an explanation if he feels you don't have medical justification for that medication. There is no law or rule prohibiting a doctor from treating a new patient as he/she sees fit based on the physical examination and medical tests.
Be prepared for just that eventuality. All you can do is let the new doctor know that the pain medication works for you and you wish to continue treatment.
Good luck!
