Lidocaine injections, Anyone??

My Dr. is recommending Lidocaine injections weekly starting next week for back and neck pain. Has anyone had experience with this?

It's a short acting anesthetic. ( about 2 - 3 hours )

Used to pinpoint exactly where the pain is originating from.
If your pain subsides with the injection, it tells you that area is your problem area.

Can't see it being used for long term relief / pain control.

More of a diagnostic tool in the case of back pain, according to what a Dr. told me.

( never had the injection )

Local anesthetic that is, same stuff thats in sunburn treatment spray, sprays for cuts, iches. common OTC ingrediant. another is benzocaine. simply put, they are numbing agents

I damaged my radial nerve in my shoulder a while back and got submuscular lidocaine injections around the tendon sheath. I don't want to even *think* about the size of that needle again!
