I recently recieved the generic Norco and the last time I took a Norco it only required one. Now it seems like it takes at least two to shut down the pain. I only take it once a week, but of course had to try it when I received it (upper back muscle spasm pain). One didn't work. So tonight, along with my injection (I have MS) I took two with a clonazepam (2 mg.) and it seems to be working. I have heard differing things regarding this issue...they're the same thing, they can differ by 20 + or - or something like that, so I'm just asking for peoples opinions regarding this issue. I know it's already been mentioned, but I can't seem to find where it was at!! I'm and would appreciate any personal experiences comparing the two. Thanks in advance

I found generic norco 10/325's to be flat out weak, and many other people will tell you the same thing. I first thought it was a tolerance issue, but it turned out not to be the case. After taking the 10/325's with insufficiant relief, I switched back to the lotab 7.5/500's that I took before and they immediately worked better. MUCH better! My advice is to either go back to what worked for you previously or try the lortab 10/500's or even 10/650's. All I can say is that if the 10/325's don't work for you, cut your losses now and move on because they're not going to magically start working. This has been a hot topic for at least two years now. Some folks have no problems at all with the 10/325's and others, like me, needed two or even three at a time. Just don't let anyone convince you that it's a tolerance thing.

What I have found is the generic watsons are much more effective than the dreaded "mallies". all i get with those is a hedache and no pain relief. thats all i know as far as generics. hope it helps!

You can get some Tylenol OTC and take one with your Norco if that's what you like.

I was on hydrocodne 10/ 750 (maybe it was 10/500). My doctor put me on gneric norco about a year ago after hav8ing been on the other. I found that there is a difference. Supposedly the only difference is less tylenol. But on my last visit to the doctor, I was put back on the old hydro 10/500. It does seem to work faster on me and I too was using more and more of the generic norco to the point it was no longer working if I were to stay in safe limits. One of the hydro 10/500 seems to work fine as opposed to me taking multiple norco's.
I have read and been told by my doctor's office manager that there IS a difference in generic and brand name as far as ingrediants.

Thank you all so much for responding to this ongoing two year issue! I really appreciated the links Night Shade and ML63 I WILL NOT allow anyone to convince me that it's a tolerance level, because I JUST started taking them, and only weekly when I take my Avonex shot for MS (I was hoping to reduce the 10/500 down to 10/325 but at this rate I'm going beyond the 500!
From what I've heard I might try Lortab next. But not sure. Thanks so much, all of you!
