When going to the ER for treatment, do you tell ER DR's that you are on Opiod therapy maintenance?? (taking Hydro)
I ask this because hydrocodone could cause reactions if given something that does not work well with it. Also, I ask because of tolerance issues. If someone has gotten hurt, has a kidney stone, etc., if the Dr. prescribe 5 mg hydro for pain, or even 10 mg for that matter, it would not help to alleviate the "new" pain.

I would say to tell them. However, with the mindset of most physicians, they would probably think that those pain meds that you are taking presently "should take care of" the issue at hand, without a need for an additional rx.
For instance, I had a dental implant recently and contacted my Pain Management Doc, as per instructions in the Pain Management Agreement. I was told by my Pain Management Doc to "disgard" my rx for Percocet that the oral surgeon gave me, as my current dose would "take care of" the surgical pain from my implant!
It didn't, of course. I'll know better next time.
the one and only time I went to the ER for my pain was when I hernated 2 disks in my neck. I was very very nervous. I work in the hospital and am very familure with the staff regarding everyone as seeking.
I disclosed that i was on vicoprofen. I also told the doctor that I took my normal dose waited 2 hours before coming in. after he examined me say the nuro loss in my arm gave me a shot of demeral and a script for oxycodone. he didnt want my thanksgiving to be a total wash.
I was suprsed (they are famous for 800 motrin follow up with your GP)
I was happy that I told him I didnt ask for anything but I was sure to let him know the vicoprofen did not help.
