I don't think you are being nosey so I will answer your question. My pain is from a few different illnesses. First I have what is called a chiari malfomation which is when the cerebrellar tonsills slip into the spinal canal and cause pressure against it and many different symptoms one of which is pain in my spine and my neck with headahces. I also have severe migraines, fibromyalgia (which causes me severe hip pain), and degenerative disc disease. I have been ill severely for about 3 years and have had no real relief. I am also just getting off my hydrocodone. I am in a tremendous amount of pain and am hoping things will improve very soon! Seems like many are suffering with undertreated pain. What a shame! I am considering starting to order meds from an online pharmacy which is what brought me to this site in the first place. I am only 37 and no doctor will perscribe any real relief for me. They say I am too young to be on pain meds. I say I am too young to be bed-ridden and not able to function normally and to play with my 2 yr. old daughter. Just tonight my Mother-in-law had to come over to give her a bath. That's not right! Okay, enough whining. I do tend ot ramble. Hope you have a low pain night. God bless.

Good Lord, are we all a mess or what??? LP - this will sound weird but you are actually very lucky this showed up in a blood test, many times it does not until it has done neurological disease, nearly killed a neighbor of mine. Thankfully, Lyme can be treated with mass doses of antibiotics for a loonnnggg time. Best of luck hon! Best of luck to all of us!

My biggest pain (my partner) is in jail right now (which only adds to my stress and emotional distress...too long of a story to get into.)
On top of that I have been a medical nightmare since I was 14. Migraines then, rare now.
My pain clinic medicates me well for my DDD, 3 thoracic and 1 lumbar bulging disks with bone-on-bone at T7-8 due to multiple fractures (1 recent.)
I also have severe TMJ from an auto accident that dislocated my jaw and has since caused problems being able to open my jaw very wide. TMJ usually only painful during "attacks" where it hurts deep inside my ear.
I also have another condition which exacerbates all the above (and which I have never before disclosed on this board) and that is lymphosarcoma (diagnosed in January.) Actually, the cancer itself isn't painful (yet) but the chemotherapy is simply terrible.
Just another piece in the bad-luck jigsaw puzzle that comprises my life.

night_shade,
My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 1999 and went through 10 bouts of chemo. I saw what she went through and my heart goes out to you. She recently had her spleen removed because of a tumor and they put her through 4 more bouts of chemo, but this time she knew what to expect, so she did better. Her hair has yet to grow back. It's so thin and short. That was one of the things I was hoping for. I was praying that she would get this wonderful thick head of hair.... but instead by the grace of God she got remission instead. I think we can both deal with hats, if that is going to be the case!!!! You're in my thoughts and my prayers. Take care of yourself!

I have herniated discs at L4-L5, L5-S1, bulge at L3-L4, ddd, stenosis, arthritis, problems with my SI joints and as my doctor put it probably fibro. My sister has lupus. I was tested for it but tested neg, that's why my doctor put it as probably fibro. But my symptoms are getting worse, all the aches and pains, so my sister lovingly tells me the other day, welcome to your first signs of lupus. She was diagonsed with fibro before she found a doc that knew the symptoms of lupus. My doctor also told me just because i tested negative last year doesn't mean i don't have it. He's such a nice guy (sarcasm). So i'm gonna wait a while before i get another ana test done. No insurance to have more blood work done. But basically, where don't i hurt, lol. Some days i can have a sense of humor about this and this is one of them. Hope everybody is having a good weekend.

My pain is from Endometriosis, which is not curable. After 2 laser surgeries to remove it plus four miscarriages, the last one almost ending in a hysterectomy, I also have cervical stenosis. I also suffer from back pain due to narrowing of the disk space L4-L5. All in all, my pain is basically in the areas of my abdomen, lower back and around "that time of the month", my legs as well. I've been to 2 fertility Drs, neither one a success. In fact, the first one I went to misdiagnosed me, and my hubby was giving me 180mg shots of progesterone daily for about 6 months, which I later found out I didn't even need- talk about bouncing off the walls in hormone hell!
Peace,

Julz

For the most part yes now that i've found nww. I've been on lortab 10's off and on for 2 years. I have built up a tolerance to them. A normal pain level day for me is a 5. The lortab's knock it down a little, which is okay. If i throw my back out, forget the lortabs being of any help, so i'm really carefull of what i do. I'm on no lifting what so ever, stuff like that. My doc asked me one time what my worst pain has been. I told him last time i was throwing up and crawling across the floor because i couldn't walk, my mom made me take a bag with me to the er lol. Honestly i've had days where if i didn't have my daughter, i wouldn't be here. But i manage, on the bad bad days, i try not to move, but i have to or it will only get worse. I hurt my back when i was 24, i'm 30 now. I can only imagine what i'll be like in ten years, but maybe by then they will be able to give you a total body transplant, lol. To sum it up, on the bad days, i grin and bear it. And i didn't post all this for pity, just being honest. And please don't take that last sentence as being rude, it was in no way meant to be. Hope every one is having a good week end.

I have severe neck pain (causes severe headaches too) which I have had for 6 years but then alittle over a year ago I got into 2 car accidents and it caused even more pain.
All the doctors have found is scar tissue but I think it needs to be looked into further!!!!

I might as well jump in here, finally. Disc damage at c3,4,5,6,and 7. This was due to a car accident in 1986. Migraines complement the neck back and shoulder pain. I have also had severe tmj since 1990 that required 1 surgery and one closed reduction. Right knee pain to slipped patalea that required 2 surgeries. Right ankle pain due to a very bad break in 2001 that required 4 surgeries and counting. Lower back pain due to the big A. Now I've added kidney problems that won't go away.
I am 50 years old now and a big mess, but a good looking mess for 50. All of us can state many stories of our journey here. D.B. is a lifeline to all of us. Pain management sucks in my opinion. They poke needles in you and say, "You should be all better now".
Enough of the bad and we learn from our experieces and each other.
Peace and less Pain,
Deb

Wow I can't believe this thread has been around this long and I just now noticed it. For me, it's probably easier to answer where my pain isn't.
Okay, let me see. Pain from Fibro basically everywhere, but it seemed to have begun in my knees, then quickly on to my back and neck, the back pain being combined with degenerative disk disease and a herniated disk in the L5 L6 area. Not looking at my MRI report, so I could be wrong on that specific area. Also arthritis in my hips and a newly diagnosed 4th melanoma but no pain from that yet, unless they decide to excise more tissue around the area. Man, typing this down makes me sound like a train wreck. I don't even want to come back and read this. LOL But, you asked....

I probably sound like a medical train wreck, but here goes: 2 whiplash injuries, 2 ruptured disks @ L4/L5 and L5/S1 with surgery both times, osteo arthritis confirmed in hands/fingers and hips, just had total body bone scan yesterday looking for other stuff due to persistant bone pain, carpal tunnel, tendonitis, degenerative disk disease in neck/spine, myofascial pain. I had endometriosis for years, several surgeries for that finally resulting in a complete hysterectomy, a tumor under one arm, I've seen orthos, neuros, rheumatologists, endocrinologists and finally landed with an osteopath in physical medicine. All this stuff hurts pretty much all of the time. 4 of the 5 docs above gave diagnoses of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome after repeated tests to rule out lupus and RA and various other things.
The neuro doc who did both my back surgeries wouldn't give me anything stronger than ultracet before surgery, and sent me home with Lortab 5. Refused to give refill, told me *I fixed the problem, there is no reason for you to be hurting*.
I haven't known what a pain free day is like in years, but oddly have come to accept that as *normal*. I still work full time and my pain level on average daily is around a 5 with medication and higher without and it's in every joint of my body.

Troll, can you share your experiences with TOS? I'm just getting into this as a possibility. A couple of docs say I have this, but three others says FMS...

Let's see: osteoarthritis (back, shoulder, and knees), degenerative d. d. (neck - from car accident), neuropathy (from diabetes), torn knee meniscus, abdomen (adhesions from multiple surgeries), migraines, and fibromyalgia (all over!).
Some days, I have to wonder what I did to deserve this. Oh well, could be worse, I guess .

I have suffered from migraine headaches since I was a child as well as endometriosis. I have had 2 laproscopy's and really think in order for this monthly nightmare to go away I will need to get a hysterectomy I am 25 so I really am trying to hold off, but most days I just want to get it over with since it seems to be my only answer.

Kharma,
That is horrible, 25 is so young to have to make that decision although I can understand the pain issue, Do you have children? I would be also concerned about having to be on HRT for such a long time if you get a hystorectomy at your age, I would get several opinions before deciding on such a drastic procedure. My heart goes out to you!
Tray
Edited to remark that I saw in your profile that you do have one child bless the lord for that, but still does not make your decision any easier.........

Interstitial Cystitis (Bladder).
Sucks, BAD, but fortunately the reproductive/recreational functions have not been and will not be affected. Phew.
My pain is similar to yours, my specialists keep testing & scanning & changing their minds: they have given me so many different names which I will not bore everyone with by listing them here on the forum. All I know is that I have an extra tube leading from my bladder to my kidney which causes 'reflux' & 'may be contributing to the problem'. This basically means that I get continual chronic infections (UTI's, various types of cystitis) that just won't go away. It started when I was 12 & the first investigation into the problem was sooo unbelievably painful that I was terrified of returning for further help. I just found my own ways of dealing with it, but I'm 29 now & it's getting worse & I've had enough! The pain is excrutiating most of the time & I'm waiting on another scan to see if the latest infection has reached my kidneys, which could cause further serious problems. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had similar symptoms. Feel free to PM & share, I could do with some advice!

Degenerative Disc Disease from C3 thru T1, bone spurs same places, bulging disc at T1, ruptured disc at C6, and most recently rotator cuff tendonitus. Migraines off and on for years, fortunately not bad currently. Looking at fusion surgery for the C6 prob - pros and cons appreciated - inbox me please...
