I was wondering if the Alprazolam 2mg (generic for Xanax 2mg) has the same potency as any other OP or IOP website. This came from NWW which was prescribed. I also have a question about Norco 10 which is a hydrocodone for pain. Anyone been on this medication? It makes me drowsy but does help the pain. Are there a better pain medication thats strong that does not make you drowsy. I have back pain on top of a terrible toothache (2 molar teeth) that gives me migraines and have to take it at work. Any suggestions?

I like Darvocet N 100. It seems to take away the pain and not leave you feeling especially tired. I took it after I broke my arm and I think its good pain relief. Others may disagree, but Darvocet N is not as addictive as some things out there. Its worth telling your Doc. you'd like to try it...I wouldn't recommend taking it with the Alprazolam at work though.J~

Well, not to be funny or anything, but have you tried to make an appointment to see the dentist? That would take care of the molar pain and your headaches, for one. As for non-drowsy meds for back pain there are various types of NSAID's (non steroid anti-inflamatory drugs) out there such as ultracet, celebrex, ultram, viox, naproxin, etc.

I think the only other pain meds you could get from an OP that may be a bit stronger feeling would be Lortab 10/500mg and the generic actually seem to work better than the Name Brand. there is also Lorcet 10/660. Also, Vicoprofen may do better 7.5/200mg (hydro and advil) may do better with the swelling.
Basicly though, for tooth pain, call the dentist and get in for some 10/650 Percocets. They will fix you right up until the pain subsides.
as far as the Alprozolam goes, they are just as strong, but they are not time released as the Name Brand are.

Well, I am not as fortunate as most and have no dental insurance. On top of the 2 molar teeth that needs pulled alot of other extensive dental work needs to be done also. I plan to do it all at once and be put to sleep. I just cant fork out money like most to go to the dentist with the x-rays, plus pulling the things and having cavitys filled. Income tax is all going on this, just waiting on my return.

I just wonder if you guys ever had a tootache that causes so much pain that you get migraines THEN maybe you would understand. Plus back pain due to a 9mm near your spine.

Oh, I toally empathize with you my frirend. Oral Surgery is what began my long road down the pain path. I had no insurance either and paid $1400 for 4 molar extractions while being "put out". I was in more pain than I could imagine for weeks.
My best advice is to MAKE the dentist give you the 10/650mg Percocets 1 tab every 4 hours when you leave. Threaten to not have the proceedure otherwise due to your pain threshold.
Worked for me! And they wanted to give my Darvocet N50!!!

Darvocet N 100 is pretty much the same as Percocet. My friend at work, who had two c-sections had both. My other friend at work has sciatic nerve pain and takes Darvocet N 100. Either of these is fine. J~

DARVOCET IS NOT ,pretty much,THE SAME AS PERCOCET. The 'cet' ending comes from the companion product aCETaminophin(tylenol) DArvon, a synthetic morphine type of painkiller, related to methadone, is active in 65mg+ doses (and doesn't work very well). PErcocet is oxycodone active in 10mg doses - metabolized into hydromorphone by the body.
I only say this in case your friend tried to
'HOLD OUT' for darvon/darvocet.

To the original poster:
You may want to check up on this thread and either change the name or respond/ask (to) more questions.
I would not have known you had a "teeth pain" question by the subject line. As a matter of "personal courtesy" by all DB'ers, I (we) will not change the subject line, but if you want more replies you may want to do so.
My suggestion for molar pain is: Vicoprofen (generic Teva's are great). Yes, I get migraines from tooth pain as well. Trust me-I hear you. Zomig Nasal spray works great.
I have had many root canals, bridges, extractions, apico's...etc. The NSAID's (ibuprofen, Aleve) work GREAT to get that swelling down that is pushing on your nerves.
If they don't give you Vicoprofen, go with the hydro/oxycodone that they do give you and DO add 600-800 mgs to your dose of the pain pills.
The Tylenol in the other meds (Lortab, Vicodin, Endodan) etc... will not counteract each other yet work together.
Be sure not to exceed 4000 mg of Tylenol (APAP) daily. I don't know what the cap is for NSAID's, but you can and should take 800 mg doses. It helps IMMENSLY - especially after extraction because you'll be swollen like a mother.
Good luck and don't procrastinate. Every day that goes by the worse off you will be. Get those molars checked out ASAP! Sure extraction is easy and cheap....BUT...all your teeth will shift.....I could go on. Don't worry though, ALL dentists will try and tell you to get a root canal and a Best if kept off the board before extraction. Why? The money is not in extraction. It is in the $1500 root canal and Best if kept off the board you'll get.
Have a pain free day.
Oh- about the Xanax, most OP's in the USA will dispense Geneva generics. They are good. IOP's are a Best if kept off the board shoot. There are 100's of them out there and you will have to do the legwork on that. My advise is to stay domestic!

I am wondering if Xanax is or can also be used for a muscle relaxant? I am having terrible pain in both my arms all the way down to my fingers and its like a very deep pain almost feels like the pain is in the bones of my arms and also pain in my neck and shoulders. when i lay down at night i can not sleep on my sides or on my stomache because it seems like my body weight increases the pain so bad i cry. Thank you guys for any help that can be given
P.S. i also take hydro 10/325 and have tried taking this for the pain and it doesnt even touch it i also take Stadol NS for headaces and tried to use that to see if it will help with the pain with no relief. I actally feel that it is really deep down in my bones. I can not even raise my arms up far at all and can not even lift on my children which sucks really bad because they are both sick so i feel like i am not being the comforting mother i should be but the pain will not even let me pick them up. i even tried to lify a gallon (half a gallon) of milk out of the fridge but the pain was so very intense i dropped it. sorry i keep going on but i dont know what this is and i need some help!
