Don't know what's going to happen to me now, but it's not good. I was receiving, and getting used to Roxicodone 15mg tid.
I asked my GP if he'd be comfortable taking over, and he said, yes, when you are stable.
So I said goodbye to my pain clinic, where I felt I was being disrespected and ignored. In the interim I tried a new clinic. No acceptance due to their scheduling, but I got a script to keep me out of W/D.
So as my first GP appointment nears, his office gives me a phonecall, saying :dr. XXX doesn't feel comfortable prescribing you pain meds due to your complicated history. Hey no need to feel uncomfortable! I myself feel downright crappy!
So I've burnt my bridges, I need C-II's for the pain, because for one thing I cannot handle any more IBU or APAP. I am in big trouble with no place to go.
Some one please advise me. Give me a name, or an address? What I need is a trusting dr that will coninue my regimen at the very least.
Anyone know how to find a good caring doc? I need help, I am at the end of my rope now..
Thanks
Red

Dear Red, I don't know where you live. I guess one could gather in New England somewhere. If so then my guy (an MD) would be to far. But dependeing on your desperation and level of misery maybe traveling isn't out of the question. If you want more info. PM me. But before you go to such lengths (travel) why don't you keep your appointment with the new guy. TALK to him, be honest and find out what his concern REALLY is. Is he afraid you are an abuser? Or is your physical condition beyond his scope of expertise.
I was a practicing NP for many years. It is my opinion that a lot of this perceived narcophobia is just that, perceived. Have a frank conversation. Many patients beat around the bush too much and that makes doctors nervous. Put all the cards on the table. Tell him what you need and why. How much you have taken for how long, that kind of stuff. You would be amazed at the level of cooperation you will get. As long as you don't seem sneaky you should be fine. Most doctors became doctors because they are compassionate people that truly want to help and to avert the suffering of others. Doctors are acutely aware of the need for and place of narcotics in medicine. As long as he has no social concerns about you then there is no valid reason for not prescribing. You will be OK. Peace, Daisy
