Well, the first thing you should do is make sure your firewall is setup properly. Then, you need to do some penetrartion testing. Since you are asking for help, I will assume that ports, and firewalling ports, may not be your strong point.

Fortunately, people have setup websites, which will do penetration testing for you, to test the security of your machine, with some of the tools that crackers might use.

I am not familiar with your firewall, since I use Linux, and Mac OS X, and sometime Windows XP. Follow the instructions from your firewall manufacturer, and then you need to test things out, to make sure it is working properly.

I use http://www.dslreports.com/secureme

Folow the instructions, and create a login, so a detailed report will be emailed to you. It may take a while depending how many people are in the queue, but you must leave your computer connected to the Internet, until you get the report.

One more thing you should consider is an OS upgrade to at least win98, because Microsoft does not support win95 anymore, so the updates are going to be hard to find.

Here's a better site that a programmer friend of mine set up to test computers for security. All the tests are free, instantaneous and you do not need to create an account/login or download anything.

You also need a good anti-virus program too. The best free one is http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl7.php

Get windows XP or 2000 if your going to continue on the microsoft platform. Don't use anything that is offered as only free. I'm a computer tech and you need to understand how crappy free software usually is. Its usually written by the development companies I.E. Symantec in order to get you to want to actually buy the retail programs. Get Norton Internet security, that has the antivirus and firewall. make sure you keep them updated. Then download ad aware 6, spybot, and go buy spy sweeper. Its very important to always keep everything updated. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and update your OS, do this periodically. and ifyou do get xp, download autopatcher. do a search for it on google.
