Tingling in Hands
      #160222 - 05/07/04 07:11 AM

For the last month, I have noticed that both my hands get that tingling feeling. When I am on the phone or just sitting down or standing up, a couple days ago, both my hands felt like they were asleep, it was so annoying, could it be corpul tunnel? Or could me taking hydro affect it?

Thanks

I have carpal tunnel in both hands, right hand is quite severe but started with the tingling you explained. Now I sometimes wake up in so much pain like my first 2 fingers are in a vice, its horrible. But I saw my doctor way back and how he manually tested to see if it was carpal tunnel was to tap the palm side of my wrists with one of those reflex tools, you can also do this with your fingers. If you feel a sort of electrical shock in your hands it is indeed carpal tunnel. I was suggested to have surgery in my right hand but wear splints to sleep and when I do hand work and when talking on the phone, because I do not want to have surgery if at all possible. Sometimes my hand goes completely numb when using the computer mouse for just a few minutes. Also another thing that my doctor told me is that the pinky finger is not affected by carpal tunnel so when you hand goes numb see if your pinky feels fine. Hope this helps, and get splints if you can (theyre available at walmart pretty cheap) the splints do help. Also the doctor will give injections in the palm of the hand but this did not help me at all

Also wanted to add that I have never heard of hydro causing a tingling feeling but really dont know if its a possibility, and I also remembered what my doc said about the pinky finger. If it too tingles and goes numb it can be a sign of nueropathy, but I have no information on that since that was not my case.
