I read so much about the risks of ordering online, double dipping, etc. However, from the research that I have done it seems that this is an unregulated area. Does anyone have any PROOF (links, articles, etc) of a person being busted for ordering narcotics from a US online physician/pharmacy? I have never seen anything specific, just what people have "heard". In light of all the recent media attention to prescription drug abuse, and the recent rash of closures I am very curious about this.
Thanks!

I've seen proof (newspaper articles, TV spots, etc) - about people being 'busted' for ordering online from international OP's - usually steroids, or ALOT of some other med, like 1000 xanax though. Can't produce a link right off hand, but I have seen and read these articles myself.
As far as U.S OP's I have been using them for 3 years, and no I have NEVER seen an article of a patient getting in any trouble for using them. Why would they? It is 100% legal for the patient to use these services and refill their own valid prescriptions, as long as the patient is being truthful with medical information, records, etc. There would be no reason for someone to get in trouble for using a U.S doctor.

I can tell you that I was met by some men in suits once while signing for a package. They made me dump it out and found 40 darvocet. Thank god it wasn't more. They let me go with a stern warning. This is true and if you read the first few pages of the medsmexrx thread you will see when it happened. I think with all the cracking down they have been doing, it will happen more. I know I try not to order from any company that will not deliver through a private carrier now. And I WILL NOT ever go sign for a package again. If you read some of the older posts, there should be (at least there was) links to newspaper articles about people getting popped. Usually it seemed to be steroids. Be careful, they can bust you if they have a notion to......
Of course I am talking about international orders. And orders shipped from within the US without a prescription.

I originally posted this last spring but that post is now gone. This article is about an arrest of a man geographically close to me for buying meds from an IOP. I've never seen any articles or other media stories about people facing negative legal consequences stemming from US OP use.

Man busted for pills bought online
Postal workers got suspicious when they saw packages arriving from Islamabad, Pakistan.
They called the police.
And yesterday, officers arrested a Greenwood Lake man who allegedly bought the anti-anxiety drug Xanax over the Internet without a prescription.
John Mosmann, 47, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was released to await further court action.

Seems with all the terror threats and anthrax scares that they were initially suspicious of the pkg's for those reasons-not that they thought it had drugs in it. I think that his getting arrested was just an unlucky by-product of the search. Kind of like being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
