Every two weeks or so I get an injectable prescription from an IOP. I get 1cc insulin syringes at local pharmacies but I really need 2cc syringes. It's legal to get 10 w/o a prescrition at pharmacies in my state. I have asked for the 2cc before and the pharmacist always asks, "What's it for?" and I always say, "It's for insulin" because I don't know what else to say. Then the pharmacist always says, "Most insulin users like 1cc small gauge needles" and looks at me funny as if to say, "Are you using these for something illegal?"
So, my question is this--What can I tell the pharm to get a larger syringe?

I'm a nurse and I don't think they even make 2cc syringes. They generally come in fifths - 1cc, 5cc, 10cc.... and without a needle attached since needles come in many different gauges and lengths. Insulin syringes are different because they come in unit measurements, not cc's. You could tell the pharmacist the syringes are for your pet's medication, or that you're feeding baby birds or something like that. Another thought is to say that you're using the syringe to flush out your ears, as that's what I use in the medical office where I work to remove wax from a patient's ears when they have an impaction. You may even be able to purchase syringes online somewhere, but you may need a prescription for them; I'm really not sure about that.
