I was wondering if anyone has ever had any relief with Robaxin?

My daughter has been preceribed, Skelactin, Roboxin and Flexeril, Flexeril is the only one of the 3 that gave some relief.

That stuff is awfull. Have you tried Soma with a pain med? It helps relax muscles alot. I have been prescribed zanaflex by my neuro/PM doc but I haven't even picked it up. He knows I take Soma, so why would he want me to take 2 muscle relaxers? Ask for anything but robaxin.
Peace and have a stress free weekend,
Deb

Same here. If I took it before bedtime, it kept me wide awake with very little relief, same with skelaxin. Zanaflex is a not much better pain wise but it does make me sleepy. Abbi

Okay, then I am not losing my mind. I took it a couple of months ago and found it did Nothing for me. I just recently moved and unpacked it the other day. I just wanted to see if anyone had actual relief with this stuff. I am trying to get some relief right now with all this unpacking/moving...it's making my pain level high. I was grabbing for straws with the Robaxin.
Thanks for the replies!

Actually, the only thing my PCP has suggested for Fibro was either low dose sleepy like antidpepressant (such as elavil or trazodone) or a muscle relaxer. Given I'd already tried the elavil (amitriptyline) and trazodone several years earlier I picked the muscle relaxant option. The one I was prescribed was robaxin, and I agree it doesn't seem to do a thing. Thus I haven't really talked to him much more about it, as I'd just assumed perhaps in general muscle relaxants were not going to be effective. However, maybe this is an invalid cnoclusion and I need to just ask for a different one, since he limits to either anti-depressants or muscle relaxers? What would be the best one to ask to try. I know when I was seeing a rhuemotologists several years ago, before insurance changed and I quit seeing him he had suggested possibly soma if the low dose antidepressant didn't work. However, due to insurance change I never went bak to him and have never tried it. I guess the reason I thought muscle relaxants may not work is a long time ago a different PCP had prescribed methocarbonal (that is not quite right spelling of the generic) and I wasn't pleased with it. Has anyone tried that one with much success. Which one muscle relaxer seems to do the most good. I guess I'd like one that could help with the sleep, and just avoid using in the day maybe?
Thanks!

Methocarbanol is generic of Robaxin, and it does nothing for me at all. Soma is ok, but I find that the most effective is the Flexerall.

Same here. A placebo does more than Robaxin and the company responsible for this product is paying the docs to to write scripts for Robaxin.

Soma works best for me but some people don't like it. As a previous poster mentioned, if you take soma with a pain med it really helps. Maybe you could try soma and time released naprosyn if your stomach can tolerate the naprosyn. In my case I take hydro and soma and a little naprosyn every now and then. It gave me a lovely buzz at first but that is long gone. I, too, have tried elavil and trazadone. They made me so drowsy and sick, I couldn't go to work. What about neurontin (sp?). Some people love it. That stuff really gave me a hangover.
Best of luck to you.

I was prescribed Robaxin by the neuro who did my back surgeries. He refused to use Soma, his only alternative was Skelaxin. Neither had any effect for me. Apparently the guy loved them because he would write scripts for them in huge amounts....like 300 at a time. Told me you could *double up* on the dose and be fine. Maybe so, but the kicker is they don't WORK. My opinion - Soma is the one that works. Zanaflex works great but puts you to sleep.
