My mom got this some vicodin from a friend and they are blue. She was told they are vicodin 1000's? Is there even such a thing? I know they make vicodin750's but I never heard of the other. Can anyone help me on this?

As I'm sure you know, Vicodin is just one of many brand names for the generic med combo of hydrocodone & acetaminophen...I've never heard of a hydro/apap combination with 1000 mg. of apap though. Do you know what the imprints/markings on the pills are? If so, I'm sure the members here could easily identify them. Off the top of my head, the most widely known blue hydro/apap pill is generic Lortab (10/500) manufactured by Watson.

You're welcome. The blue pills with the "540" imprint are the generic for Lortab (10/500 strength hydro/apap) manufactured by Watson that I referenced in my previous post. The "M357" imprinted pills are a generic for Vicodin (5/500 strength hydro/apap) manufactured by Mallinckrodt.
The name "Vicodin" is often used by people as an all-encompassing generic term to describe any pill containing some combination of hydrocodone/acetaminophen which can be misleading as "Vicodin" is actually the brand name for one specific strength of hydrocodone/acetaminophen.
Hope that helps.

They are referring to a Vicodin HP or a 10/660. I used to work as a pharmacy tech and people think everything hydrocodone is "Vicodin". They think because 5 are 500's, 7.5 are 750's, and 10 is 1000's.

This is correct. I hear may people refer to 10's as 1000's and they are very defensive when I try to say different. Also, I have noticed that hydrocodone is refered to Vicodin or Lortab in general based on geological location. Where I live I haer Tab's or Lortab's, but people from Northern states that move here will say Vicodin as a general term.

I've noticed that, too. I'm a Northerner, and around here everyone has heard of Vicodin, but when you say Lortab, no one knows what it is.
But what annoys me the most are people who call it "hydrocodeine."

Theoretically it is exactly the same drug in the same quantity and same amount of compound ingredient. It is the age-old debate as to which is better generic-v-name brand or generic-v-generic.
Most people here do not care for the Vintage generics.
I've personally never had the Vintage/Qualitest ones, but I have had the Watsons and had no trouble with them at all.

In that same vein, I am annoyed by people who refer to methadone as "meth"...
And, because of the media misreporting its horror stories supposedly involving OC, people who don't live a life revolved around pain and painkillers are believing that oxycodone is synonymous with OxyContin. To read it in the papers, you'd think THEY don't know the difference, either.

I had the Vintage/Qualitest brand once and I didn't care for them at all. Just seemed weak compared to the Watsons. Next time you order, maybe you can ask the OP if there is a choice of generics. Or, you may end up liking them after all.

Yes I live here in NY and once a Dr wrote me a script for lorcet and I went to 10 different pharmacies and none of them had this in stock, I kept calling that dr and they kept telling try another pharmacy until finally a pharmacist called the doc and said that it needed to be changed to vicodin name, but of course that dr office made me drive all the way back to them to give them the other script and pick up the vicodin one and they have known me since I a was 18 and I am 38 now, so after 4 hrs of trying to locate lorcet as they said to do they made me drive back to them and I was in tremenous pain that day or I would not have even gone to the doctors.

The first number is the amount of Hydrocodone in your pills. So you will be getting the same amount. The second number in is the amount of tylenol in your pill so the will be alittle less. So 10/500 has more tylenol than 10/325.
I hope that helps.
