WelChol Prices
      #152597 - 04/03/04 12:35 PM

I am taking WelChol (colesevelam HCI) 6 tablets per day to reduce my cholesterol. I have tried some of the other cholesterol reducers, but they change my liver functions and my doctor takes me off of them. The WelChol works for me, but it is just too expensive without prescription insurance. Rite-Aid gets $184 for 180 tablets. The cheapest I have found it is Costco for $152 per month. WelChol is not available from Canada, and I can't afford to keep buying it at these prices. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you! $12 per month savings helps. Just wish I could find WelChol from a cheap source--like getting my Zyrtec from Canada. Too much $$$ on medicine each month.

Have you checked with your Primary Care Physician or his/her nurse to see if you are eligible for the Patient Assistance Program?? I get my meds through the PAP and the only one that I have to pay for is the Kadian (Schedule II)which runs 467.81 monthly for the quantity I receive if I were to buy it out of pocket. The Kadian costs me $5.00 through the program. BIG DIFFERENCE FOR SURE!!! I would definitely recommend checking this out with your PCP or nursing staff. My PCP nurse handles all of the paperwork on a quarterly basis. I also receive Toprol XL 100 mg 200 tablets, Nexium 40 mg 200 capsules, Allegra 200 tablets, and Valium 10 mg 200 tablets through the program, and Albuterol 6 inhalers. They send all meds BUT SCHEDULE II for a 3 month supply - schedule II's are sent monthly. FYI. Take Care.
