My PM prescribes Elavil which is supposedly for sleep but does absolutely nada except make me feel terrible in the mornings. I told her this, so she told me to try half a pill instead, which just makes me feel half as horrible. She also prescribes Zanaflex which really doesn't help, and if she's in a particularily good mood that month, maybe a few (a very few) Lortabs. She also wants me to have nerve blocks but my co-pay alone would be $250 each time, so that rules that out for now. Don't get me wrong though, I really do like her and I truly believe she's trying to work with me, but I think in her case, she's going to try every option there is before I get a reasonable amount of the meds that actually work for my pain.
