"And as for what night_shade said about pill freaks, she wasn't referring to chronic pain sufferers, as she is one herself. She was simply saying that ALL addiction is dangerous, which is true. She wasn't calling everyone on DB a pill freak, if that's what offended you? Addiction is a horrible disease no matter how you cut it- pills, powders, liquids, or plants. "
Calling anyone a "freak" no matter who you are is offensive though no matter what kind of spin you want to put on it.
My opinion, take it or leave it.

I'll leave it, freak. just kidding
Look, I was just defending a friend. Some people would find the word "freak" offensive, I myself don't. But I'm sure night_shade didn't mean anything by it, she is one of the nicest members here. Pill freak just would mean a pill-popper, a pillhead, a pill junkie, whatever term you want to use to describe someone who is addicted to pills. I mean speed freaks do call themselves speed freaks, it's not a universal thing to be offended by that word. It is entirely different than if you called someone a freak during junior high because they were goth (first thing that came to mind, heheh).
kayleigh, if you want to bury the hatchet, just PM me- I'm trying to do the right thing here.

THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!!
I have never experienced such a aite where people take up for each other & be so open.
I am an X-Junkie
Iam not proud of it by no means. I lost 2 jobs 2 houses a wife(Well that was good), 3 cars and at least, ....at least...$200,000 in cash.
Iam still alive (Thanks to my hire power). I hope to get off Metadone aswell. Iam in a hurry to but Iam by no means going to rush it. I will not go back to the way I once lived.
I do believe that pain meds are great, If their used for pain.
When I first started taken pain meds, I tore my ACL at Football practice. If I just used them for the pain I was in. It would have never turned into a problem. I didn't know that I would come dependent on them the way I did. I feel the public is so uneducated when it comes to pain-Medication. "Don't do it you'll get addicted". That is a load of bull-hockey.
Sorry about running on like I did. I forget what Iam doing & I just ramble on, & on & on.

Thanks yawkaw, for trying to smooth things out.
One - I think we can all agree there are people in this world who use opiates, stimulants, (or whatever)not for any valid medical reason, but for recreational purposes only. Once addicted, they will go to any lengths to continue to feed their habit without any regard for themselves or anyone around them. They will abuse legal medications in any method and combination they can figure out. (Anyone ever watch "Nancy & Sid"? Prime example.) These are the "pill freaks", "crackheads", (or whatever) and I refuse to put them in the same category as those described below.
These are people who become physically (and sometimes psychically) dependent on substances that are prescribed to them by legitimate physicians for specific and verifiable medical or mental health conditions. If their health condition resolves, the majority of these patients are able to resolve their dependence with the assistance of a physician. Since mental and physical problems can be interrelated, abuse can inadvertently occur. While everyone deserves treatment, for anyone to lump these two groups together is just wrong.

That was absolutely ridiculous and completely out of context. I was speaking SPECIFICALLY about the people who ABUSE pills.

is that right. so what do YOU call people who ABUSE food, or alchohl, or gambling, or shopping, etc... are they FREAKS too. it is precicsely that kind of judgement that puts a negative light on all people who use pain meds.
